Missing characters in Tetsuwan Atom 2003

Hey, don't you guys noticed the lack of several characters in Tetsuwan Atom 2003?
I don't really care about characters like Atom's Mom and Father.
Since they're younger than him and just have adult bodies, their presense is unnecessary and obsolete.
Specially with Dr. Ochanomizu being already a father figure.
About Cobalt, he is not that interesting since he look like a slightly modified version of Atom himself and taller with a dumb attitude.
Also, we don't got a conflict between Atom and Garon, despite he was in the Tetsuwan Atom: Heart no Himitsu.
I was thinking about that girl called Midori who was Atom's classmate, she doesn't appear in the 2003 version, but I wonder if the little girl with a cat like ribbon who appear in several episodes is a remake of her. Her name was never said.
Also, Walpurgis was not in the 2003 anime, mostly because Dr. Tenma turned out to be Atlas' creator.
And for what I noticed, some mistook him with Kin Sankaku who also appeared in the 1980s series.
In the anime, Kin Sankaku played a unspeaking role as the owner of a bank.

Despite that there are quite some guest appearances from other Tezuka series that i din't really knew at the time of watching it like the Rainbow Parkeet Phoenix and some well know others.

Astro's parents i have always felt them to be a bit pathetic not surving much purpose especially in any of the Anime series so it wasn't that weird the cut em out i'd say.

I think the capitalist guy named "Money" in the 25th episode was played by Astro's former robot dad.

I was displeased with the robot father and mother due their weak acting, even the dad said the irony of being teached by Atom instead.
And the real responsability over Atom was only from Professor Ochanomizu who even teached a neighboor that children don't differ human friends from robot friends, something which the inmature father and mother could not realize which make me happy of not having them in the 2003 series.
About Midori, I found her cute and I would be enjoyed if there was a confirmation that the unamed little girl was really her, but uncredited.
With Atlas being Atom's pirated brother (come on, he is made from stolen blueprints), it would be unreasonable to have Cobalt (though Blue Knight is credited to be named Cobalt in the 2003 series before being upgraded by Shadow) in both 1980 and 2003 series.
Niki or Nuka from 1980 series also don't make an appearence, aside the 2003 series.
But, she is still a interesting character and I think she deserves a chance of not having a tragic ending.
Though, I'm planning to add her in a future fanfic revolving the fate of Boga (which is a character created for the fanfic "Red Mask".
Those who figure who is the Tezuka Star character under that red mask will earn a cookie *laughs*

I think the parents were dropped so that Atom & Uran could have a so-called non-traditional family, in order to appeal to those who are themselves in them. If not that, than because every character costs $$, & their roles being minor, it was decided to drop them.

The old Tezuka website listed Walpurgiss as portrayed by Kin Sankaku; Cobalt is not so pathetic as you suppose, in both the manga & 1960s anime, he made significant contributions.

I thought I saw the cat-ear bow girl in Metropolis, but even with the BLU-RAY screen cap that F-man gave me, the figure was still too small to identify.

No doubt that Rintaro's METROPOLIS both inspired the 2003 MIGHTY ATOM, & was inspired by the MIGHTY ATOM corpus.

Personally I'd love to see Cobalt come back - in many ways, he's the most "human" of the three siblings. I also think it was a wonderful element that Astro didn't look down on his brother or make fun of him, but loved him and treated him as an equal.

Atlas is fine . . . but Cobalt was Tenma's first interpretation of what his robot son should be like - and the differences are interesting to me (as they WOULD be to an Astro-Geek! )

But I agree the Mom and Dad can go. They should just live with Dr. O / Nora and Yuko as she works so closely with Dr. O.

I agree with you, AprilSeven, on Cobalt. It's a shame he only appears in the '60s anime.

I think that girl in the last episode of the '80s anime (her name escapes me at the moment) should've made an appearance in the 2003 anime. She was an interesting character and I think would've made at least another interesting episode out of the 2003 anime.

I would have liked to see Hoshie Tenma, considering she doesn't appear very much or at all in other versions. The 2003 series could have been her time to shine (or at least be shown in a flash back).

Gotta laugh with that information, since Kin Sankaku appeared in the 1980s episodes Cruciform Island and The Monster of Kraken so far.
And both are completely different in that series, heh, heh, heh!
Kin Sankaku survives the attack of the monster and flee swimmering for his life while Walpurgis got pulverized by a ray cannon launched by Atlas and then dying for good.
Anyway, I liked Kin Sankaku's voice, he sounds pretty much endearing (just like he is described by official sources) while Walpurgis have such a creepy voice instead.
I still don't think Cobalt to be necessary since Uran is the best choice for a sibling which Atom should care and even learn more about how a family works. And I don't think it would be cool to have a brother which could rivalize Atom's own potential to the point of having Uran more jealous of their powers, so Cobalt is way more obsolete for me.
Atom is a robot and Dr. Ochanomizu works pretty much as a father figure, so it doesn't make sense simulating a family with two robots younger than the son acting as father and mother. They even fail in the family category as I mentioned before. The father and mother are even more powerless to forbid Atom from helping Dr. Ochanomizu in dangerous missions, despite being his guardians.
Livian was missing in the 2003 anime, guess they wanted to make Atlas a more lonely figure to justify his extreme and needless violence.
