If Uran's name was changed to "Naru" in a new dub?

Talk about all things Astro Boy!

Naruto means "bacon" and I hate bacon, lol

I        BACON, but it must not only be crisp, but on the verge of disintegration.

But 'Zoran' fits the lip movements of 'Uran' perfectly.

I disagree... Uran suits better and specially when Atom screamed to her when she said her true feelings about getting along well with him in the original 2003 series.

"Uchuu Shounen Zoran" still haunts my soul O_o

And sounds like "Moron" as well O_O

I'm fine with "Uran", as long as it's the Japanese pronunciation. It's better with the suffix "-chan", but as far as dubbing goes, I don't think that'd work.

"Zoran" doesn't really sound like a girl's name. It does sound sort of spacey/sci-fi, though.

What's that thing you keep mentioning? About why you hate the name "Zoran"?

Naruto= bacon. Well alright then. o-O

While I understand dubbing companies reasoning for name-changes, I don't agree with it, however I still understand why they decided that Astro Girl, Zoran and (shudder) Urain was necessary.

... Maybe not the Urain (although it's a derivative of Uranium in pronunciation, same as Uran in Japanese) but to English speakers it sounds too much like Urine and I don't understand how editors could have missed the resemblance and subsequent mockery (my mother had one heck of a time with it when I was little).

As for another name change, I really don't see why it is needed especially since anime dubbing is fairly mainstream in the Western part of the world, and as such name changes are getting rarer unless the name is just offensive or just make no sense to English speakers at all.

If Astro Boy is dubbed again or a new series is made (and dubbed), I think that in this day and age a little more 'respect' will be given to the names of the characters. The name Uran is hardly difficult to pronounce and is cute sounding so I think (and hope) it won't be messed with. But I could very well be wrong.

I decided to stick with her original name since I only care about the original japanese voices and concept, because they're much more endearing.
And I don't seek the brazilian dub, they had a lot of mistakes and took the american dub as a basis.
I felt that was being fooled by the dub and that something was not right.
So, I realized how much I was fooled when I watched the original series which had a lot of emotion which was omitted in the dub.
Whe don't had much problems with name changes in animes back then in Brazil, but Jetter Mars's voice was troublesome when the show was released here.
I really hope that they change her to Uran rather than try "Zoran" or try another name.
