What are you reading?

Postby Earthshine » 12 years ago

Thought I'd start this thread up because I like to read and I know others do as well.

Right now I just started to read Fuse by Julianna Baggot, book two for the Pure trilogy that is fairly new. It's an awesome book series that is a coming of age story in a post-apocalyptic world where people have fused to each other and to their surroundings due to the weapons that ended civilization. This is literally the only book series that made me cry.

I am also ecstatic that this series is going to be put on the big screen in the future.

This is the series book trailer that is very well done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1cb_eCkOww

Arabian Nights. I already read one translation, but this one supposedly has more content.

Wow, nice trailer. I've never read the Pure series, but that's an interesting plot that you have described.

"The Borrowers Afloat" by Mary Norton is what I have been currently reading, slowly. I have read many of the novels in the series, but I still need to finish this one. The series of novels is about teeny weeny people who lose their home and have to move, adjusting to this change. Studio Ghibli also adapted the first book into a film, it felt slightly more modern.

I'm not a reader myself, but I just finished reading "As I Lay Dying" by William Faulkner for a class in college.

I personally didn't enjoy the book, but I can appreciate that the book was written in an original way that sets it apart from other novels. I recommend the book to the adults on here. Beware though if you do read the book: it takes a focused mind to understand what's going on sometimes.

I just finished reading Great Expectations by Charles Dickens for English class. I honestly dreaded reading the book as it was so long, but it was actually pretty good. The way he didn't just "kill off" a character was great. He takes his characters in a loop. Just when you think they're gone, they aren't. I thought that was very interesting.
Pretty much everyone in the class thought it sucked...

I'm currently reading Tezuka's "Message to Adolf." I'll read the new color edition of "Unico" next, unless I have my copies of "Atomcat" or "Astro Boy: The Blue Knight" by then.
I'm on Twitter.
