Jeff Hanneman, guitarist from the band Slayer passed away today at the young age of 49.
R.I.P to a legend.

 I may have heard of SLAYER, but doubt I ever heard one of their songs. My preferences are for oldies & such; KISS & AEROSMITH are the metal bands that I know best.

I take it, that you are a fan of SLAYER, Novacain; thus I am sorry for your loss.

I'm also completely ignorant of this type of music, but I took a look at his biography. Unusual death. :( He's had a long career, I'm also sorry for you, Novacain, and for all his fans.

:( That's really a shame - and it always is when an artist (or anyone!) dies so young. But it really does sting when you lose a musician you were a fan of (the first time it affected me was John Lennon's assassination :cry :)

I'm sorry to hear about Jeff's passing.

It is really a shame, but the band has been around for a long time. Lots to listen to! They are (were) my favorite band (well, an ongoing challenge between them and Macabre) I suppose the worse part is that Jeff was the founder of the band as well... I doubt they will continue to make music, and even if they did, you can never replace the guitar player in a band. This is almost as bad as when Dimebag was killed on stage back in 2004 - What a tragedy that was.

Thanks for the replies all!
