President Bush the first hated broccoli. That's a good enough reason for me to like it!
I think I like it cooked rather than raw as in salads.

I learned that most people are really squeamish about eating crickets, but have no problem eating crabs and shrimp, which are the same as crickets.

I find these things fascinating... I was doing a dome project for one of my science classes and proposed that the colonists would primarily obtain their protein through legumes, nuts, and insects. I did not want to incorporate large animals as a stock because their upkeep just saps too much energy.

... The class hated the idea even when I told them that shrimp are bugs, and they taste the same.

Actually, shrimp are technically crustaceans, not insects. While similar, those are not the same thing. Though, I suppose that they ARE all the same in that they're decapods, or arthropods descended from ancient decapods.

They probably wouldn't taste the same, though, regardless of this information, due to differences in habitat, diet, etc.

They... DO taste the same and they are the same. Cockroaches in particular taste identical to soft-shell crab...

This was a post about people being squeamish about eating one thing but being perfectly content with eating another even though both are in a sense the same (exoskeleton etcetera I don't want to type everything). It's like people being perfectly content with eating chicken but not Cornish hens.

Well, I wouldn't eat a cockroach if you paid me; I heard that they carry AIDS or HIV or something like that. Even if it isn't true, they're still disease-ridden little sewage crawlers.

I don't eat much crab, anyway. In fact, I've only eaten crab's legs once (the first and last time I ever ate REAL crab meat); they were tepid and kinda fishy tasting... :( (Bad Crab!)

I LOVE shrimp, though. Had some for dinner last night, in fact. But how do you know what these things taste like?

I'll tell you what . . . if that's true, we could eventually put roaches on the endangered species list because soft shelled crab is DELISH! :w00t:

I always thought crabs and spiders / lobsters and scorpions resemble each other a little too closely for coincidence. I doubt however, I would EVER want to eat a tarantula or scorpion.

I'm reminded of the diner scene from Indiana Jones and the temple of doom.

I've just realized that "travelling" and "traveling" were both correct, and that in American English, the consonent didn't get doubled if the stress is not on the last syllable.

I must be such an inconsistent speller in English; I'm not even sure of which spelling I use the most often, the American spelling or British/Canadian spelling. As for where the stress falls, I can see it when I think of it, but to put the emphasis on the right syllable is probably one of the most difficult habit to acquire when it comes to English pronounciation, for me at least.
