LBF I might soon have an extra computer to give away and I do have a thinkpad R60 I'm not using anymore. I've been giving away outgrown computers on freecycle for awhile now. Only thing is I wipe them clean and put Linux on them. Cost of shipping from sfla might be problem though...

I dunno how to use Linux!
Anything too complex or difficult to understand usually makes me ragequit.
South Florida, did you say? That might not be /too/ much of an issue; I live in the southeast myself, after all. As long as the computer's got Intel on the inside (I want to own a tablet someday, and Wacom tablets won't work without it!).

If you know how to user Windows, you're ready to go. Just install Ubuntu, it is for average users.
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Hey if my wife could figure out Linux out anyone can! I lent her my spare box while her's was in the shop and it's the same Firefox as windows. Libre office writer is close enough to M$ word as well. I think kubuntu is the most windows like and it runs great on a thinkpad. I think I could stuff the laptop in a priority xpress box for under $20.

Eh, thanks... my mom gave a resounding "no" to the idea, though. Although I suppose she has a right to worry about giving away an address to strangers on the Internet... Still, she's a bit /too/ concerned with it. And she said that I'm "naïve", probably for not being paranoid about the whole matter, like her. But I /really/ don't need any more things to be paranoid about, quite frankly.

OK I understand. I saw the news show where the reporters and police set up some on line 'pervert' traps. CREEPY! Still if you guys ever want to use ebay or Craig's List you'd run into the same problem...... I'll probably put that computer up on 'freecycle' on of these days.
