There could be a "real" Astro Boy in existence, right now?

program a complex program made to emulate human emotions on to a extremely powerful computer and when it is almost human-like, you give it a series of morale no win scenarios without a programmed outlet. The only way for the program to stop running is for the computer to decide how to react with no data on the outcome and no user input on what to do. I guess they think if you let to program sit long enough, the computer will "evolve" and make decision thus the birth of a A.I.

This sounds a lot like Dr. Tenma's theory in Urasawa's "Pluto" - and that's why he claimed Atom wasn't "perfect" . . . of course [spoiler alert] he changed that when introduce the "no win scenarios" and we get to see a side of Atom that is actually scary

The "no win scenario" aka Kobayashi Maru.

Exactly. The only question is, will the computer evolve or just crash?

OK here's a challenge how many roles (film and tv) did Robby the robot have and what was his first role?
The list is quite long!

I can name only a few, 1 of which is a MAN FROM UNCLE movie, but only Robby's dome was featured. Then there is an episode of LOST IN SPACE. I could look on the web, but, nah.

I actually looked it up and was amazed at the ones I didn't know about.
As for the ones I did:
#1 Forbidden Planet (his debut)
#2 Invisible Boy
Twilight zone
Addam's family
Lost in Space
Colombo
Gremlins

You can find the rest via googling for the Wikipedia article.

This is off-topic, but worthwhile, so let us start a ROBBY thread:

Exactly.

And, honestly, that's my main problem with creating an artificial life form. I mean, sure, the idea of giving a robot the ability to determine the difference between good and evil (right and wrong, and so forth) is a really great idea. The problem is, how far does that go? At what point does the robot just start judging people, based on what it thinks its right, just as we do everyday? Especially if the robot had the capability to go Skynet on us?

I don't know, for all I know, I'm being paranoid. If anything, prejudice would be the bigger issue concerning A.I. robots if science ever got that far. It's just something I think about when concerning a possibility like this is all.
