Astro's Blueprints

Postby Tetsuwan Penguin » 12 years ago

This is a screen shot from the movie. I'm almost certain that the blueprints were lifted from the manga. They sure LOOK like Tezuka's original drawing.
(Sorry it's a poor picture).

I love how intricate his details are. I love how Tezuka took the time to design the inside of Astro as well as the outside. It's extremely rare to find that sort of character designing.

I wonder if there is a way to get our hands on a HQ set of the blueprints... I am SURE they probably exist...

I think there are pictures from the mangas that have detailed drawings of his insides, but I don't know if I'd call those blueprints...

Well if I had a copy of the movie on BD AND my computer had a BD rom drive (it sucks that as of yet you CAN'T watch BD movies on Linux) I could have gotten a better screen shot.......

Well that's a wiring diagram. I always think of blueprints as being for mechanical drawings. BTW the term blueprint is technically obsolete, though it is still used. In reality 'blue print' referred to the process of printing such documents using a special printer and ink. Rather messy too. There was also a photographic method of printing such documents, similar to a xerox that rendered the traditional blue cast to the documents. I remember some 'blue prints' from when I worked at Digital Equipment. Come to think of it, they WERE schematic diagrams. Now my age is showing.......

I can get a much more detailed one, but I would need some time.

You must have the actual dvd. My screen shot came off youtube. You seem to have grabbed the exact same frame, which out the rectangular distortion I had.

Actually, I'm pretty sure this was made just for the movie. I mean, look how long those arms are! And remember, when this movie was first being made, Astro looked quite a bit different in the early stages, compared to the final product.
