WHY NO NEW ASTROBOY SHOW FOR 2013AD!?

They have to have a legitimate reason to make it--they can't just say "well it would be nice if we had a new Astro Boy" and justify spending hundreds of thousands on production. The 60's series was made because... well, for obvious reasons that I'm too lazy to explain right now. The 80's series was made because Tezuka wanted his dream to come alive in color, and to give it a bit of a modern spin. The 2003 series was made because it was Atom's birthday year (I'm not sure if the anime actually came out on April 7th, but it would be cool if it did). And the 2003 series was, again, a modern re-imagining of the original manga (specifically, that failed "bad boy" arc where Atom's a rotten brat, ironically enough). It's still modern enough for viewers to relate to it today, so while it's nice to imagine an even newer series being made soon, it's not likely to happen.

I can see why the studio wouldn't want to sink a lot of money into launching a new series. But it would be nice if they came out with a 'mini series' or 90 minute TV show, similar to what Tezuka did several times during the '80s (Marine Express, etc).

It would be nice to be able to have a small miniseries or a special even at least to commemorate the 50 year anniversary of the animation debut. That or maybe a full-length movie.
