I looked and looked through your post Jeff to see what could possibly be construed as offensive and found nothing.

His will to forgive, like some people said here. I love how he will try his hardest to save people or robots no matter how corrupted they are or what they have done to him. He's selfless and kind, he has inspired me to try and be the same. that's what makes him a hero to me.

Everything about him in a way. It's the fact that he's caring and kind, it doesn't matter what happens, he always gives a helping hand to anyone who's in deep danger; even the hateful and the cruel. Another reason, he has the enemies, but instead of just fighting, he firstly tries his best to get them to realise that their intentions are bad, trying to get those people to stop with the hurtful business and helps others. On the same topic as enemies, Astro rarely seems to take sides, (humans or robots), he wants to create a friendly balance between the two, which is a wonderful, worthy cause for the world. The fact is, Astro is one of those people who would never let you down, despite going through all tha pain and hate he's been through, and he'd be an incredible friend to have.

Those are what make Astro a great hero in my eyes...

Very eloquently put.

Back when I first became a fan of Astro Boy in 2011, I actually disliked how pacifistic Atom could be at times. As the years have gone on though, I've found that that is what makes Atom such an interesting and likable character: he's a protagonist who fights for good and peace, but sometimes to a fault. Sure, his desire to create peace between humans and robots by using violence as a last resort is admirable, but it does sometimes lead to repercussions for Atom. That's what many fictional superheroes have to deal with though: choosing what will bring about the best outcome for everyone else around him, even if it leads to self-annihilation. Perhaps that's "what makes Astro a hero to me": the fact that he is so selfless.

Also, welcome to the forum! :)

I agree with you completely. Some heroes, despite being helpful to the world, and protecting others, are also quite selfish and in various cases, only care for their own well-being, while with Astro, he always puts other's survival before his. Even in the episode "Battle of Steel Island", where Astro almost shot Lamp/Dr Drake, it was to ensure the safety of the other robots, not himself, which means he has his heart in the right place. :)

And thanks, I'm really enjoying it here :astro:
