I simply read it as he didn't have to answer her. A lot of people think that for every statement aimed at anyone it must have a response. This of course is not necessarily true. If I remember the scene correctly instead of verbally answering her Dorian simply offered a small knowing smile.

But that's my interpretation. It's what makes a fandom fun, having multiple interpretations.

Possible influence from 2003 Astroboy?

Postby jeffbert » 11 years ago

 The most recent episode made reference to a LUGAR TEST that weeds out faulty DRNs (the type that Dorian is). Yet, "The powers that be got nervous" & all DRNs were decommissioned.

2003's #45 revolution eve featured such a plot element. Kip was the gardener robot of Red's household, & he was Ena's favorite. but when Ena fell down the stairs, Red not only blamed Kip, but eventually the entire line of GP IV type robots were condemned. Is is more likely that there the plot element in Almost Human was independently developed, or inspired by AB 2003 #45?

Here is a good description of that episode: http://www.tv.com/shows/almost-human/community/post/almost-human-arrhythmia-review-season-1-episode-6-138724723121/

I don't think the most recent episode of Almost Human was based on AB 2003's plot point, as both plots are rather tired when any sort of AI is subject. "Highly advanced AI shows promise to be indistinguishable from human awareness, people get nervous, one makes a mistake... ALL AIS ARE EVIL!"

When I heard of the tests I actually related it to the Turing Tests named in honor of the great Alan Turing, a test which is supposed to distinguish if an AI is truly sentient or not.

Looks like the next new episode will air on January 6th!

Can't wait for this one, looks like it will be very interesting and we'll be dealing with the inevitable 'killer robot' scenario.

It's okay, that's all I know about the next episode coming up!

I'm really enjoying this series and I hope it will have a sufficient life.

Why are they waiting so long to show the next episodes? I knew THE WALKING DEAD was not going to resume until Feb., but nothing that I watch is scheduled for this week, & this show, is not even scheduled for next week.

Two of my shows that I keep up on (Almost Human and Arrow) both were put on a semi-hiatus in mid December. I think it's because of the holidays. Not sure though, however the next episode of Almost Human will air next Monday or it should if my source is correct.

O.K., my guide also indicates a new episode next week, though earlier it did not.
