I guess it's like what Earthshine said before, it deals with hormones and such. Weird though, cause I'm a bit young to have grays. Unless it runs in the family.

Naw. It's a misconception that only elderly and adults get gray hairs. I got my first silver hair when I was maybe 11. They can occur, but it's usually rare and just a few.

Everyone sprouts some off colored hair someplace (usually in areas where the sun don't shine). These are throwbacks to some dormant DNA. If you ever had a red head in your family, you might find some red hairs in your beard, underarms, or elsewhere. I know I had some white hairs in my head as a teen, and some red facial hairs though my true color is dark brown. Totally normal.

What is freaky is that when you get older you start sprouting hairs where they never grew, like in your ears!
