"The Secret World of Arrietty"

Postby Tetsuwan Penguin » 11 years ago

Yuuki X Atomu mentioned this Anime when she said that a character in that story was treated by Blackjack in one of her stories.

So, I borrowed the DVD from the library and watched it this morning. I think the animation might have been done by the same people that did "The Mysterious Cities of Gold" since the boy Shawn looks EXACTLY like Esteban.

Another thing that caught my eye was the character Spinner. This boy Borrower was dressed in native American like war paint on his face. He was able to fly from tree to tree (well actually he Glided like a flying squirrel) using his cape as a wing. He also wore knee high green boots that looked like :astro: 's except for the color.

Thank you Yuuki for pointing out this Anime, it was very good!

I loved this anime. I love how Bridget Medler (she stars on Good Luck Charlie, a show I like on Disney Channel), voices Arrietty. I cried at the end.

I prefer the original Japanese version and the British dub though :)

Glad you watched it! I love Ghibli films.
Also~Strictly speaking Yuuki Kawashiro is just my OC and I only based a small part of her off me, so I'd rather you guys call me by my real name "Kuo-Yi Wu" from now on.

I'm a person who wants to stay true to myself.

Yikes! My family's back at the library. Gotta leave now.

Wait a sec, there's 2 English dubs for this?! (checks Wikipedia) Oh what do you know. That's a new one. I live in the US, so yeah. XD.

There are mostly british dubs for lots of anime. Though, the most common dubs are Latin, which have dubbed more animes than the U.S. has.

The British dub trailer can be found on my FanFiction profile account. The movie title however is "Arrietty" rather than "The Secret World of Arrietty".

I don't think Studio Ghibli did "The Mysterious Cities of Gold". Studio Ghibli did:

1. Spirited Away
2. Castle in the Sky
3. Kiki's Delivery Service
4. Ponyo
5. Arrietty
6. Howl's Moving Castle
7. From Up on Poppy Hill
8. Mononoke Hime
9. Pom Poko
10. Porco Rosso
11. The Cat Returns
12. Whisper of the Heart
13. Tonari no Totoro
14. Kaze Tachinu a.k.a. The Wind Rises.

And BTW the character is named Spiller, not Spinner. :D

Gotta leave the library so see you guys a few days later.
