what video games do you like to play
Zelda. Again. Link Between Worlds last month, then Phantom Hourglass, Ocarina of Time starting this month, continuing with Majora's Mask (and I like scheduling everything in parallel, more fun), planning Spirit Tracks afterward. Definitely a Zelda period

The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

I love Zelda
I think Ocarina of Time is my favorite out of all of them (I have good memories surrounding the game) and Link to the Past. I enjoyed Twilight Princess but it was soooo easy for me. I think I got it into my head that Zelda games were supposed to be challenging so it came off as a bit of a shock when I just breezed right through it. Still a wonderful game.

Lots of Zelda love in this thread!
I seem to remember Twilight Princess being easy for me as well. It's been quite a few years since I played it, so I don't quite remember. Maybe I should play through it again to see if that's the case!
My favorite Zelda is Majora's Mask, mainly because of the darker atmosphere of the game. I also like the time-travel concept, which was something many critics harped on regarding Majora's Mask.
The only Zelda game I didn't like was Adventure of Link. That game is incredibly difficult. The temple music is great though.

It was so easy for me I never even had to use a guide or even ask for help once, which for the other Zelda games in the past was at least expected. Especially in the dreaded Water Temples. For Twilight Princess however that was unnecessary.
Then again I like a challenge and love difficulty settings and games that reward you for completing levels on those settings; or having cut scenes that unlock with completion of these settings.
Zelda of course doesn't have these and the only way how I have found to make Zelda harder and more of a challenge is to simply NOT get the heart pieces. Try doing it that way and it does become a challenge, especially in the later temples when some enemy's strikes inflict four or five hearts worth of damage in one strike. Playing through the entire game with only three hearts is really difficult but rewarding.

Ha. I didn't need a guide while playing through Twilight Princess, my brother was my guide. (He's an expert when it comes to video games.)
I like the N64 series, twilight princess and windwaker the best cause you can travel a whole lot and the fields and areas are vast and incredibly awesome.

I think Wind Waker has been quite easy as well. It must be a trend that started some time in the past where games were made less and less difficult. Adventure of Link is one of the most difficult Zelda out there, being the only one where you actually need to start with 3 lives because you can die by falling in a cliff (slip your finger on the jump button at the wrong time and that's 1 lost live), not to mention insanely difficult non-boss monsters
It took me WEEKS to get through the cave maze leading to the hammer, all because of those ****ing lizards :d oh: Today, such a difficult game would be a flop, because it would sell only to hard-core gamers. It was ok when you didn't sell a lot of copies anyway, but today you need to sell at least a million copy or you're losing money. In Skyward Sword, they introduced a "hero mode", which is appropriate for hard-core gamers: finish the game once, and the "hero mode" is unlocked; you can then start a game in "hero mode" or not, at your convenience. They continued it in Link Between Worlds (didn't tried it yet though).
The time management in this game is trully unique. At some time, I thought that a game that could have characters with true lives (in contrast with drones that we still have even in recent games), appointments and all would be great, but unplayable because a missed event would be a big problem. They solved the problem with a simple but elegant solution, that works well as a sequel for Ocarina of Time as bonus
Took me a lot of time to master this one, but even today I still play it every few years. Back in the days I could finish the game with almost 10 lives, but today I must admit I use an emulator, that makes it much more forgiving to stupid errors
Your finger slipped and you falled into a cliff? Reload a recent state and it never happened
Maybe I could finish it on the real NES, but that makes some parts of the game very stressful (especially the path leading to the mountain town of Darunia, which you have to pass FOUR times).

Oh, I thought windwaker was kinda challenging to me.
We have pretty much all the classic zelda games cause we have the game collection for gamecube which contains both the N64, and contains the NES games, along with a windwaker demo and a movie. My brother's childhood friend gave it to us a few years ago cause she never played it much anymore.

you guys are mentioning so many old games, my brother and I have just begun collecting older consoles, we have an NES, N64 and yeah you get it. I love the old mario games and pokemon, considering I was born in the year 2000 older games still appeal to me. I love Pokemon, I'm currently playing pokemon x, since I got a 3ds. Speaking of the nintendo 3ds has anyone played animal crossing? Oh I just love that game, haven't gotten very far, but I guess it's because I don't have that much time on my hands

I prefer RPG's and am playing Final Fantasy VI for the PS1 now (FF III for SNES). It's probably my favorite in the series next to FF VII.
I haven't played the game that came with it in Final Fantasy Anthology yet, FF V, and have Final Fantasy Origins, with FF I and FF II, in addition to FF VIII, and FF X as well. I believe I have Final Fantasy Tactics somewhere too.
I prefer console games to PC, but my only computer is a FreeBSD box so it's not ideal for gaming anyway.
