So has any adult relative related to you a story of his own grieving over a loved one's demise?

No, not any that I've tried to talk to. Not that I can talk to my parents about anything but schoolwork. They are displeased if they see me drawing or writing or hear me singing. They call it a waste of time.

I would expect your mother to try to relate to your grief by telling you of a similar situation in her life, assuming there was one. As far as drawing & singing go, are you sure they do not dominate your time? Perhaps your mom thinks they do.

She didn't know Darin as well as I (and my brother) did. Neither did my dad.

She might... But I NEVER draw around them anymore, or they'll complain and say "Focus on your homework, not all that Astro Boy and fantasy crap!" So I just wait to draw until they're both in bed, normally around 11pm or 12am.

Oh, joy. I might need my tonsils removed!
I've had a swollen, sore, raw throat for almost three days now, plus a terrible earache and headache, along with a lose of appetite. (I've gotten these symptoms already over 5 times this year, 2014!)
And since my dad doesn't go to work until later, he's going to take me to the doctor's office to have me checked up.

I'm really scared if I DO need my tonsils removed; I've never been under surgery before!! Any advice?

It's a rather quick out patient operation, you probably won't need to stay overnight in the hospital. Your throat and mouth will be sore for a while, but no worse than dental surgery. You'll get to have lots of ice cream since soft cold food is good for recuperation!

It sounds like you might need them removed if you've had this condition chronically. Now doctor's don't want to remove people's tonsils but in my mother's youth they systematically removed them. But in your case it's probably a good idea.

Tetsu is right, it's a very quick procedure with some benefits.

My dad is taking me to the doctor's in 30 minutes. Still not sure if I'll be glad or scared if I need them removed..
