It's a code that's a series of numbers, separated by periods (i.e. 12.34.569.89) that identifies what region of the world you live in. It's meant to convey location as an identifier, or in case of illegal activity or an emergency. It can be also used in permanent bans, which totally forbid activity on that site in that location.

Ao3 is a bit more difficult to use as their editor sucks and you need to post in HTML format. Firefox/Mozilla used to have an HTML editor feature. I edit using libreoffice and export to HTML, then cut and paste to the site, but I have to delete extra directives it doesn't understand and the formatting isn't perfect.

I would just move to another fic hosting site and be done with FF. I never really liked FF.net, and the last time I even had an active account on their site was back in 2008. Although AO3 is still in beta and has flaws, it's much more to my liking.

The best advice I can give you Kuo-Yi is to be well aware of the rules of those sites and to NOT break them, READ the rules and understand how they apply to your fic so these mistakes don't happen by accident.

I now have two stories running on AO3. I'm fleshing out the Atlas origin story that I hinted at during the end of my "Prequel" story on FF.net, and also the slightly expanded version of its last chapter which I posted as a stand alone cross over, also on FF.net.

The other story is the "MIB" crossover currently running on ABOL. I'm combining posts as chapters and uploading them to AO3. I've listed the story as a triple crossover between Astro Boy x MIB x and 'the Hitchkiker's guide to the galaxy'. I really love that Marvin character! (there is also a tiny reference or two in the story to Dr. Who, but the doctor won't appear in this story).

The only issue with that is that most ISP's these days share IP addresses between users because there aren't enough to go around (unless they have switched you to IPv6). Users are separated by port numbers, so unless the guys at FF.NET take that into account they could end up mixing up two different users, if they are on the same ISP.
