I wonder if Tezuka ever saw "Dr. Strangelove"?

That shot of him reminds me of WWII pinup art that was done on planes and bombers.

My reference was for the scene at the end of the movie where Slim Pickings rides an H bomb down to it's target like a bucking bronto.

There's no doubt in my mind Tezuka saw that movie. Especially considering his interest in American cinema.

What F-Man said. Also considering the film came out in 1964, Tezuka probably saw it in theaters.

Interestingly enough, I have actually seen this movie. I had to watch it for a comedy film class about a year and a half ago.

One of several movies where Peter Sellers had multiple roles. He also had at least three roles in 'the mouse that roared'.

I think "The Magic Punchcard" episode IIRC #65 ELV, was probably released very close in time to "Dr. StangeLove", so I can't swear that that scene was inspired by the movie. I'd like to think it was though.
