Thanks, Earthshine! Today the symptoms are visibly improved, but the pain (minor & annoying) has improved little, if any.

Sorry to learn of your problems w/ antibiotics. If only we were robots!

The pain is minimal, unless I bump the leg, Strange Wings. Yesterday, I went to the hospital, waited about 5 hours before any attention- other than blood being drawn. Anyway, while the leg remains swollen & sensitive, the infection is just about gone. The doc was concerned about blood clots, so I had an ultrasound. No clots, so I am wondering why it is still swollen, etc.

So, I am supposed to elevate my leg above heart level, fat chance of that; minimize my sitting & standing; wear pressure sock; apply heat to the affected area, that, I can do. :D

So, there I was, certain the infection was still alive & kicking, because of the symptoms, & more than a bit worried about it. Anyway, thanks to all for wishes of get well soon, etc!

Hope this keeps improving, Jeffbert. They are wise to take extra care against blood clots.

One of my friends had reconstructive surgery after a mastectomy - and ended up with that nasty MRSA infection that was more demanding to recover from than the original surgery and reconstruction! It seems to be all about getting the right antibiotics and having the docs keep a sharp eye on it.

I didn't realize you had already had the hip replacement. Sounds like it's healing from what you've shared, which is good news. If anything funky develops . . . get right on the phone to the doc!

Yes, my hips were replaced a few years apart, & the last one was done 5 or 6 years ago. This current thing is unrelated.

Hi, JeffBert! I haven't been on this site in awhile so I just noticed this post.

I want to offer my best wishes! You were one of the first respondents to my first posts on this site and I have enjoyed learning and sharing "Astro' history with you! So until they can give you rockets for feet, "Catch the Future!' and "Go,Go Go,!" "and become a real Astro Boy!"

I  :astro:

Thanks, ASTROBUDDY! As a matter of fact, I would welcome the opportunity to become a cyborg; rockets in feet are unnecessary, though. :D

I don't understand! How can you become "a real Astro Boy" without rockets in your feet? Did I mention they came with red boots?

I  :astro: :)
