Talk to your parents and get them to talk to the principle, the teachers or administrators and ask that they DEMAND proper action to keep you safe. If your parents refuse, and if the bullying is physical and/or verbally abusive make notes, take names and report them to the proper person.

I had a friend in high school that had a similar problem. He liked Sailor Moon and got a lot of verbal abuse for it and general bullying. He kept telling the period teachers about it but they ignored it and told him to "stop wearing girl's clothes and they will leave you alone" Typical victim blaming.

It turns out that if you report problems to academic teachers they actually are not completely responsible for taking any sort of action unless they SEE it or it's substantially abusive. If they want, they can just ignore it.

My friend had to go to our class "councilor" which is your grade's voice and is obligated to listen to you, they then pulled each of the primary offenders and gave them strict warnings to leave my friend alone. It didn't stop ALL the rudeness of others, but the main hostile abusers stopped.

The problem with being "picked on" by something you like or is something that other people can perceive as being a "choice" is that sometimes there can be so many bullies the school can't do much to protect you because they can't realistically punish them all for name-calling.

I suggest to you to think about what kind of bullying this is... is it physical in that do any of them hurt you or touch ANY part of you without your consent? If it is physical then immediately tell your parents and have them tell the school. If it is verbal there are two types; one is general teasing which although sucks to hear the school can do little about; this is the insults such as "stupid" "idiot" "moron" and the like; the other is sexual harassment and general threats such as "I'm going to punch you". If the verbal bullying falls in the sexual harassment or threats then YES the school should do something about it.

Unfortunately a lot of verbal bullying is the non-sexual or non-threatening kind and it really really sucks but a lot of schools are not obligated to intervene in these cases unless it is really consistent, obnoxious and they deem it as harassment. Some schools are great about keeping students safe and feeling secure and others are not.

To wrap things up the best thing you can do right now is to tell your parents, and tell your councilor or whatever the right person is; be sure to name the specific person(s) that are harassing you. Don't bother with telling the period teachers if that's who you have been telling up to now, go right to those that have power.

I think Earthshine's said it best so far. I can only add one more piece of advice to this: don't give up on what you're interested in. You're not hurting anybody by enjoying Astro Boy and having him on your binder, and you're certainly not in the wrong for it. It may be hard at times, but trust me, it's so rewarding to not give in and lose what makes you unique or feel happy.

Ugh, reminds me of the boy I read about who brought a My Little Pony backpack to school, got picked on for it and all the teachers had to say was to get rid of the backpack because he was "triggering bullying." http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/boy-told-ditch-pony-bag-article-1.1726433 And it makes me sick.
