that's odd. They offered me a free trial too but when the part where I choose a payment option came I just didn't do it and I still have an account :/ Anyway, I logged out of Crunchyroll and was still able to run the episode so I'm unsure why you can't. Sorry =(

Maybe I can? Or maybe it has something to do with AdBlock?? idk. It wouldn't be the first time that that was a problem.

Some websites can detect that you are blocking their adds, and won't let you use a free account. According to them, either you pay by watching adds, or you pay with hard cash. I'm not sure about this one though, it may be completely unrelated.
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Idk. I haven't tried since (and I'm kind of disinterested anyways); my primary concern is skipping to the parts that are relevant to me.

Can you have a free account on Crunchyroll? Seems odd if they wouldn't; Hulu lets you have one for free... But then, Netflix doesn't... but this apparently lets you watch for free without an account at all, so... idk. Could be the Ad Block, but I'm reluctant to do anything about that.

Well, I have an account and the option to "upgrade" to a premium account so yeah, mine must be the free version. In fact, if you go on the front page, click log in, on the right they tell you you have the option for a "free account." Not a "free trial." A "free account."
But it shouldn't matter since like I said, I was able to log out of that account and still watch the whole thing without a problem so I'm genuinely curious why you can't. I'm agreeing that it could be an ad blocking thing.

On a lighter note,

anyone else notice the pin up in Astro's room on the left?

I sort of like how thought-out his room is. He has a basketball hoop (and a basketball), a soccer ball, posters, what looks like either an electric guitar, or a keytar... Oh, and there are even potato chip bags on the floor in front of what used to be a wall. Little disturbed by that pinup on the wall, tbh. Not sure what that magazine on the floor is, either, but I don't trust it at this point. (But I don't trust anything anymore, for a variety of reasons, so...) There may have used to been a shelf of some kind there, due to some of the litter, but if there was, then nothing of it survived when the rest of its contents did, somehow...

He sounds young, but he acts a bit older in this iteration. Maybe he is going through a phase. (Kinda curious to see Cobalt, as well as see if he shows up more than once.)

Idk, but I like the characterization! ^-^ I can't remember what the room in the trailer with him and Cobalt looked like, exactly, but I'm p sure it had a train set in there somewhere. I wonder what room it was, or whose it was, perhaps.

Just watched Episode 2. It wasn't quite as great as Episode 1 in my opinion, but there were some funny moments, especially in the last skit (which seems to be a series of skits centered around a "dumb couple"). Triton of the Sea and Tink from Princess Sapphire were in this episode in different skits.

Episode 3's first skit has Cobalt in it, where he supposedly gets a girlfriend. Will definitely watch that episode next week.

Also, I should mention that the subtitles use the English names for the Astro Boy characters. For instance, Cobalt is called "Jetto", Uran is called "Zoran", and so on. I think it's kind of a weird choice, but I suppose they used those names because that's the names they've used in past English adaptations of the various Astro Boy series. I prefer using the Japanese names, but it's not that big of a bother to me that they do use the English names in the subtitles. I just mentally switch the names in my head.

I don't see the point in that. I mean, Astro makes a little sense, and Zoran might make some sense, sure. But for the few people who even know who Cobalt is, probably recognize him more often with his actual name than with the incredibly antiquated "Jetto". I reckon they probably don't even refer to some of the other characters by any English dub names... (I don't even think some of them have any?? idk.)

I think I'm going to try watching these again, turn off the adblock and see how it works out. I sure hope it actually works this time... I want to at least see that preview.

Premium users can watch that episode now, can't they... It's a crying shame that I'm broke. :T

Edit: btw, I just noticed; Cobalt is in the opening! I had thought it was Atom when I first watched it; I didn't actually realize it wasn't until a while of playing with the settings to try to make the picture palatable, and thus seeing parts of the opening multiple times. He's the one in front of Ochanomizu on the second escalator! You can tell because his points have a more upward turn to them than Atom's; also, his hair is a different color in general, and he has a sort of wonky face. (Why is it that when he is animated, he has a ridiculous and ugly face? His face was kind of funny looking even in the manga; he's supposed to look like Atom, isn't he...? Just give him the upright points like in the show; he'd've been more distinct that way, anyway.)

EditEdit: Gah, it's doing it again! I even made an account this time... I was able to watch the first one, no problem; but now it's telling me that I need premium to view the entirety of the second one. I don't especially want to see the second one, but it has a preview... Of course, if I DID acquire premium, there would be little point to worry about this. But I don't want to. I'm sure I'll forget to cancel the free trial in time, and start getting charged for it... and I don't have any money right now. Even if I did, Paypal won't let me spend any of it...

I just want to watch the dang show...
