If you try and select any level of hd video it makes you get an account. The standard video does not.

It didn't for the first episode. Maybe some of us need to wait even longer!

I found another way to watch what I want. I can't talk about it on the forums, though. But I've seen enough to wonder whether this show is worth it at all...

I watched the 1st episode last week, & though I already was familiar with the depiction of Atom, I was a bit disturbed by the episode as a whole. Basically, cute characters are far from cute, & that sums up my main complaint.

This week's episode was alright. If nothing else, watch the first skit with Cobalt and Atom. It's pretty great.

Cobalt gets a girlfriend and Atom asks for advice from him. The girlfriend actually asks out Cobalt without any effort from Cobalt himself. It's funny because Cobalt is given a monotone, somewhat nerdy sounding voice, and he mentions that he doesn't like to fight as opposed to Atom. Oh, and Cobalt apparently really likes trains.

Next week's episode has a skit with Higeoyaji and Ochanomizu in it along with another skit with Sapphire in it.

Another skit with Cobalt. I don't know why they call him Jetto in the subtitles, I can clearly hear the name Kobaruto anyway. Interesting how they brought up the question of if he's Astro's older or younger brother, Cobalt said "it's complicated and he doesn't want to talk about it". (Which reminds me what Warf said about what the Klingons looked like in the original series). Cobalt mentioned his sister, so maybe a future episode of this show will have Uran in it (or will they call her Astro Girl?)

Nah, in the subs they call her "Zoran" (a fact that kind of gets under my skin; although it's still not as obscure as "Jetto"...).

I thought that was interesting too. I hadn't ever thought about it before. Makes you wonder if Tezuka ever thought of that when he was writing the Astro Boy manga.

Also, I find it interesting how Atom's hair is brown in the credits and Cobalt's hair is black. I forget if that's the case in the skits.

Anyway, great episode this week. I bet the Cobalt fans are appreciative that we got not one, but two episodes with Cobalt in it so far. I liked last week's episode as well. Hopefully the trend of good episodes continues.

I'm not sure I care for the characterization of Cobalt, tbh. Still, I guess it's sort of good that somebody remembers him, at least? Also, Astro's hair looks like a warm grey to me. And Cobalt's looks kinda bluish... (although that could just be me...)

His age could be due to the fact that in the manga, he was younger, but for some reason in the anime, he was older. I honestly don't know why that is. He would have been younger than Uran, but that hardly makes a difference when the trade-off is that he's now older than Atom, thus making future classification very difficult. I guess it depends from story to story. Kind of amusing the way they lamp shaded that, though.

I watched #2 & #3 last night; weird; but I will say that of all the 'animated' series I have watched, this one is the most animated; that is, the characters move all over, & constantly.

I believe it is because of mocap. And isn't this mostly improv? Like, I think there is a general script and/or plot that they need to follow, but other than that, it's kind of all over the place.
