Really not possible to separate the 2 films. It is the same film. Robo Maria. That's what gives weight to the Anime. Why it has power. The Japan Robo Age? Ascension of Robo Maria, hypothetic, 1927? The point? It is just another transformation of Robo Maria in her seduction of the world.

But hardly the same plot. Tezuka and the studio ripped off the title.

As you can see they took more than just the title.

Robo Maria is shape shifting robot. and represents what in the theme? The Tezuka version is based on the same theme, and contains direct versions of the same scene. They took more than just the name.

Anyway, I still like the manga/anime better!
