This episode was more likely influenced by the Jetter Mars episode of the same name, but, When I was a kid, this was a Saturday Morning cartoon:

The scenario was similar, the dad was a genius scientist, & made a F-type robot as a guardian and companion for his son, Buzz Conroy.

My notes indicate similarities between this episode, & a few other stories:

REBELLION OF DINOSAUR PEOPLE: terror in amusement Park.

MONSTER MACHINE: assimilation of other machines

TTZ #100 I Sing the Body Electric: child saddened because mama died, thus betraying her, by leaving her.

The big guy is one of Tezuka's stars, Let us call him DM for short, as his name means nothing to me. He appeared in the B&W series several episodes, along with a guy I called 'Dopey', who was small. Together their characters were literally Big & little.

The US issued DVD's were in 4x3 "pan and scan" format, cut down from the original 16:9 wide screen, which the Japanese DVD's were issued in. What the FSCK was Sony thinking!
