Maybe someone can answer me this o_0

Postby Hanako » 19 years ago

For some reason at the end of each episode, I remember Astro reporting to a giant supercomputer of some kind, I even remember a name (Geronimo or Gyro or something, I think it's Geronimo) I tried searching all the Astro sites on the net, but I can't find any character with that name or any images(an image would be nice), Am I going crazy or something? ._.

"Astro, you must exceed the limitations that humans cannot!
You must be go beyond nationality, ethnicity,
pilosophy, and religion,
starvation and poverty,
and war!
Exceed these limitations created by man!
You must fly high! Higher than any human has ever flown before!
To reach for the future that no human has been able to so far!"

Yeah, the 80s series, I believe that's the one in which a computer was given a semi signifigant role

If you can provide some information/images I would really appreciate it ^_^;

That was in the Canadian versions, and his name was indeed Geronimo. I can provide a picture, but not right now.

This wasn't part of the original series though, it was just added probably because they cut about 4 minutes from each episode. Geronimo was in fact "built up" from random computers shown throughout the episodes.

Oooh, so I was right! ^_^ And that does explain why no one else remembers him(yes, I do say "him", I thought I was a bit crazy too ^-^') I'm Canadian, so that's what I saw when I watched the series.

Wow, that's quite interesting actually :D It's kind of like he's one big supercomputer.

While I'm at it, welcome to the forum! :D

That's what I saw too. The French Canadian version made its way to France, so they've seen it as well.

First, Astro came to Dr. Peabody's office:

This was taken from Save the Classmate (at least that's the US title, I don't know if it was changed in the English Canadian version).

Then before Astro's report, we'd see various images of Geronimo. I don't remember where every one of them was taken, but here are the most important ones:

And after Astro's report:

Thank you! ^_^ I've been an Astroboy fan for some time now, although I got seriously back into him during the 90s, since I was too young to really remember things ^^;

And those pictures are pretty cool ^_^ I don't remember seeing alot of them though, except Dr. Peabody(Professor Elefun to me, if I recall correctly ^^') and the third image, I thought it might have been Geronimo's CPU but now I'm not sure ^^;

If I get my hands on the DVD set I'll look out for those =)

I kinda liked the "Report" segment, even if it was meant merely to cut down on episode time ^-^;

You've seen the game, but it was Elefun to you? That's the first time I've ever heard of this combination. I thought Elefun was only in the US dub, and Peabody on the Canadian dub with the game.

That said, having never seen the English Canadian version myself, I'm just going by what I've been told about it. ;)

As for the DVDs, just in case you didn't know, those are the US dub, so no game... but a lot more scenes! Image

I liked it too! :D Until last year, when I learned about the missing scenes... :rolleyes: But what I didn't know didn't hurt, so I enjoyed it back then! :)

To be honest, I didn't remember the guy's name until I saw Astroboy Online, and it said Elefun ^-^; So it could well have been Peabody when I watched it o-o

That's always a start ^-^;

Yeah, I seldom hear of Anime DVDs being made in Canada ^-^; or any other country but the US o_o But maybe i'll find it here =)

Yeah ^_^ and I guess you can't help but have a nostalgic fondness for it, am I right? ;)
