Questions on "Lightning Man(?)"

Postby mr skunk » 19 years ago

I know for a fact that there was a story in one of the Astro Boy mangas that was the rudimentary story of the whole Denkou and Skunk thing. But I also know for a fact that that particular story isn't in any of the mangas in America. Does anyone know why that is? I believe it was called "The Lightning Man (taken from "light man" maybe...)." Does anyone have any info on it? Anything you could tell me would be great.

It's in the manga, but the story is called Electro. It's in volume 15 of the Dark Horse release. Fantastic story.

This was 1 of several stories that was featured in all 4 versions. I do not know if it was in Jetter Mars, though. :hyo:
Here are the versions:

1963 anime:
J: 6th Episode: Lightning Man
E: 7. Zero, the Invisible Robot

1980s:
J: 13th Episode: Lightning Man
E: 35. The Light Ray Robot

2003:
J: 4. Electric Light
E: 6. Into Thin Air

That's really interesting. I knew it was a story that has been done over again, but I was unaware it was in the 1963 series. Did they dub that episode in english? I mean, obviously they did, but was it ever released in America? Also, I've searched through Astro Boy manga, but I never found that story. Is it only in the japanese?

It is in manga vol. 15, & on TRSI's Astro Boy Set 1 Ultra Edition (1963), all of which is dubbed in E, & which I recomend to all :astro: Atom lovers.

The manga contains these stories:
Captain ATOM, the 0th comic adventure.
Astro Boy's Parents  Stupid 2003, gave him none.
Gaseous Beings
Lightning Man
Black Looks. This one also makes the 2003 look bad, becuase Atom lacks parents.

You've got to get the new manga series or your tables won't be complete and the universe will come undone. :D
