I was lucky, the refurbished one I got had the 2.1 firmware on it so I was able to downgrade it to 1.5. Now it's a portable SNES, Genesis and NeoGeo CD in one! I stuck Megaman Maverick Hunter X and some family guy episodes on my other 1 GB stick. I can't wait till Sony releases the Playstation 1 emu for PSP they've been promising. Final Fantasy 7 on the go would be too cool. It runs too choppy to be fun on my OQO cause the video card sucks.

But three games arn't enough for the price of a PSP. Even it's new "lower" price. From the reviews i've heard, many of the games are "okay" but at the prices they charge for these games, "okay" doesn't cut it. Also, I hear alot of them have REALLY bad controls.

These must be new reviews, a lot of the first games had bad controls. And c'mon I know there are more you would find intrest it you probably just skimmed through them COUGH Syphon Filter, Lumines etc......
And maybe the prices do justify it but I got mine for free on my 16th BDAY.

Yeah I heard it was on the PC very odd I had not heard of that. Also Crisis Core should be awesome.
Emulators are ok but I broke down and got a DS Lite so I really don't need them anymore. But cool I have some family guy too only 7 episodes but I will get more just no DVDs on them currently.

Maybe in 20 years. Then again, the 80s series was made when Tezuka was alive, and the 2003 series was made to celebrate Astro's birth date, so there might not be a reason make another one.

Yes, there is: the 2003 Astro wasn't quite Astro anymore.

Sorry I liked it enough, it had intresting stories. It may not have been orginal Astro but it was cool enough for me to get the DVD set.

Oh, I didn't mean there was nothing interesting about it. ;) But it's much better when he is a boy first and a robot second, not the other way around, in my opinion.

There were complaints by some anime fans in general that the character designs in the 2003 series were too old and simple by today's standards. I think this will only get worse, and it's a very difficult proposition to change Tezuka's work.

I saw a recent remake of the original giant robot movie. I think it was called Tetsujin 28 or Gigantor. The massive robots were fighting in the streets by punching each other! That may have seemed futuristic 50 years ago, but with today's technology of lasers and missiles and sonic weapons it just looked silly. I'm sure that wasn't the intent of the original.

Astroboy's design may have to evolve to capture the attention of the next generation (his powers that is, not his heart). They did this a bit with his arm cannon in the 2003 series, although they screwed up his heart.

I'm really tired so I hope this makes sense. The 80s series will always be my favourite.

So maybe Astro should have accepted Tenma's new body in order to get more popular?

Seriously, yes, I understand what you mean. Do you have more details about what people thought was wrong with the design? I have a few anime DVDs, but they are all of the same generation, so I'm out of the loop with today's animes.

That said, I think Astro has to remain a boy, otherwise it's just not Astro anymore. But if they want to change his powers, O'Shays' hair or whatever because it's really a problem in today's standards, then I guess I'm okay with that. I don't think the core of Astro's message is outdated. Or, if it is, then I guess I'm really older than I thought.
