Maybe one needs a PC for open architecture?
I may buy a PS3 one day, but I will never buy a console instead of a PC. Well, of course, this is someone who has enough money to buy a PC and wants an open architecture who is speaking :D

What if a console had all the features of a PC and the features of the console?

I would like a console which I can take an old piece away to put a newer more performant one, on which I can run/develop whatever I want. This is usually what can be done with a PC that can't be with a console :D However, on a PC, I can run emulators for most (=not too recent) consoles, so a PC is very good, so far as I don't want to play a game on, say, a Game Cube ;)

I've heard of some emulators. Are they any good?

First, you must know that in order to play a specific console game on an emulator, you need to own the original cartridge. You probably know, but just in case... ;)
Personally, I use the emulator zsnes for the S-NES (Super Nintendo), and gens for the Sega Genesis. For the Nintendo 64, I use Project 64, even though it is available only on Windows platforms. I also sometimes play NES games, but each time I pick a different emulator: each one I found so far always have problems that ruin the gameplay (usually bogus sounds). I don't play to NES games enough to look for the best emulator.

Occording to Sony there will be some type of development for users. There is gonna be on for the 360 and XP beta test in on Wendsday it is called XNA builtset tool. All you need to run emulators on a console is HOMEBREW or a MODCHIP it is very easy dude.
