1. He doesn't breathe. He often goes underwater for long periods of time, and he's been in space a lot too.

I must fault myself for not thinking of this sooner. Whether or not Atom breathes, he does have no trouble speaking and hearing in either outer space or under water. Although I do remember a scene in which he being in space had to communicate via hand gestures, but that was in the 80s series.

Besides that, he needs a sense of smell, which of course is dependent upon drawing airborne particles into the nose and accross the Olfactory receptors (ORs).

Now for a gross thought. If you can smell it, it is in your nose. Whether it is a pleasant substance or a disgusting substance. :wacko:
