Ok i didn't know what thread to bring this up in so i thought i'd make a new one. Basically things have gone like this:

- KidsWB start showing Astro (out of order, but thats nothing i wouldn't expect from them) then cancel it.

- Cartoon Network US now start showing Astro and do a much better job (as expected! ;) then cancel it.

- Cartoon Network Australia start showing Astro, the show is set in the TV Guide for the whole month and they have a competition that seems thoroughly planned out and all set up on their website. The mini-site for Astro on their website lists the first 5 episodes to be shown this week.

Come today they skip the Robot Farm episode and go to the next, Atlas episode. At the end it says 'to be continued' before the credits (was this in the CN US and KidsWB dub anyway?) and then has an ad spot saying that next Friday some other show will be on. The competition data for today was not given at the end of the tv program and the link ad on the front page to the comp page was removed.

I gather from all that that CN Australia have postponed Astro too. In which case i understand why they skipped Robot Farm and went to Atlas. It has a better cliffhanger so if they need to have a break from Astro for awhile thats more likely to keep people hanging on.

Now the reason? KidsWB are pretty odd so lets just discount them for the moment. Cartoon Network Australia are very reliable so they would only have postponed it for a valid reason. This could be:

- Because if we keep showing episodes we'll get ahead of the US and people might have a row about that
- Because maybe they want free-to-air to catch up and get ahead of cable (unlikely because ABC are showing one ep a week)
- Because there was some order from higher up

Obviously it is point 1 or 3. Given the fact that Cartoon Network US were showing it pretty fine until a sudden stop i'm under the impression that it could be my third reason. Which makes me wonder about the thread saying KidsWB will be showing Astro again and exactly how far in the future that is.

Now the order from higher up could be:

- Problems with licencing and the showing of Atom was asked to stop

- It's not too much of a leap to say that Tezuka Productions aren't very happy about what Sony have done with the US dub, considering that when they looked at the script for the new Astro movie they found it to be full of errors and so told them to rewrite the whole thing (which is why its taking so long). Maybe it's too much wishful thinking but if it is a problem as such it may get re-dubbed ^^

Well these are just a few ideas i have thought of. Considering how important Astro is to Tezuka Productions i can see how they would be pissed off with the new dubb and maybe that might halt up some things and cause licensing issues. Howvere i am certain there is a bigger cause behind all these cancellations/postponings.

Is the English dubb currently showing anywhere now then?

Well this is odd.... now Cartoon Network showed the code for the competition at 9:30 and the ad link is back up on their website O_o Their online tv guide looks fine too. I'm a little confused.

:P See ... i told you about #5 Robot farm... Now why is it, do you think they pulled that? Well we have it here ,Fan/Sub... But we have it.... And we will show it again anyway. And if Anapan can come up with Neon Express fan/Sub or dub, we will show that too. Atlas is a two part episode.
Robot farm and Neon Express are going to be the most sought after and controversial episodes for the first season... These are the ones thrt "THEY" don't want us to see  .... Well we will see them!!!! :P :D

cybotron i clearly explained everything you asked questions about in my first post *sighs*

Personally i don't care about the dub...i have episodes 1-10 (and 11 when we get our ADSL router fixed >_<) and intend to collect the rest raw in the case that they aren't released on DVD subbed (which i'm pretty sure they will)

Anyway i don't know for sure if they have postponed it....i'm jumping the gun by saying it but just the way the screening was run on friday was weird, and the fact they advertised something else for the friday spot at the end.

Robot farm was listed on the website so there is no reason they woudn't show it (see my reason above for thinking why)

The Robot farm Episode I have is the Fan/Sub.... Which is, shall we say ,elaborate... in Japanese... The dub was nothing special beyond the plot piece, but dealt with anti-apocalyptic fanaticism on a spiritual and technological plain which is why it is being fumbled with by network thought control. *sighs*. Your reason is interesting... But I detect a promotional ploy. A lost episode is invaluable. The sub is tops Ja...

I think KidsWB does'nt want the other channels getting too far ahead of their schedule.
On YTV, they showed a Pluto ep..and it said To be Continued, then they showed the 1st episode the next weekend. I don't know what episode the pluto ones are..and I did miss a couple episodes.

I guess I'll wait for the DVDs to come out..hopefully sony does a good job. Just like what they did with Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla(2003). Did Sony do the Metropolis DVD?
