Astro Roleplay

This makes me think that Astro might be a kind of "robotic gohla". Gohlas are a kind of clone invented by Frank Herbert in his novells: Dune. They are resurrected from the dead flesh of someone, are identical to their model, but have no memory of their model... So it was believed for thousands of years, until an experiment made a gohla remember his past by forcing him to revive an emotional situation his model had been through.
Astro has many similitudes to gohlas, except, to my knowledge, no gohlas had flashbacks, they had just "feelings" that something was familiar.

I remember that from the Dune books. It's a pretty good analogy. (except gholas use the original flesh - Astro and Toby have different bodies).

Interesting theory...i myself have never read the dune series but i have watched it on tv once... with tobio and astro dosent doctor Tenma just download tobios memories into astro in the new episodes? i dont realy know much bout the old ones but i think that what hapenes in the new ones...

As far as I know, Astro must have been created the same way as Atlas in the first 2000 episode where Atlas appears. During the scene when Atlas is created, we see some important episodes that happened to the boy who became Atlas (sorry, I can't remember his name). Dr Boynton must have somehow transmited those memories into the robot Atlas (however I don't know if "download" is a good expression since original memories probably can't be represented as binaries).
I'm quite sure the same thing applies to Astro, however the reason why the memories are hidden is still a mystery for me, maybe a "gohla effect"

its a BB essentially.. but tweaked for use of the old PBeM games.

There are a good selection of boards there to choose from. There is even an anime section. No Astroboy games running tho it seems.

If anyone has a PG or GMG etc for this astro game, please post so we know what we are doing! heh..
