I have finally seen Magaman eps 1 &2. I find it very funny, especailly Megaman's sister, who, rather than having a weapon on her arm, has a vacuum cleaner! :D :D :D

While the thing no doubt was aimed at kids, as an adult, I find it quite entertaining. It is just plain silly! :P :P

Nevertheless, I could right-click them, and they opened in their own windows.

The whole Megaman Astro Boy comparison was something that always interested me. For the main reason I figured it out on my own, then did some research on it, and found that I was correct. Now I will procede to mention all the comparisons in the two.

Megaman and Astro Boy are both Robot boys.
They're both "raised" but big guys with white hair.
They both have sisters.
They both have dugs
They both have brothers
Megaman's enemy is an old man with Spiky Grey Hair, Most of Astro Boy's one episode enemy's also have grey spikey hair.
They both shot things from their hands.
They both fight other robots.

These are just a few of the many comparisons between Megaman and Astro Boy, if I wanted to I could throw Metropolis into the mix for more. But maybe another day :P

Ok, i have recently become a BIG fan of megaman. and i would be willing to put my life on the line to say that megaman is not like astroboy.

first of all i will start of with what spiffy knight has said:

1. since when has it been copying to have a robot boy in a story or show exactly?
2. this is true but doctor light created megaman and does not actualy 'raise' him. rockman was created to be a maid and was then turned into a crime fightin, but kick'n robot when doctor wily stole all of doctor lights robots and reprogramed them so that he could ake over he world and rockman was given a new name: Megaman.
3. Roll was created after megaman to be an asistant for doctor light and is only his sister coz doctor light created her and was actualy originaly an atempt at humor. get it? rockman and roll? rock and roll??? Get it!??!?! HAHAHAHHAH!!!!! ok i know its lame but i cant help it.
4. Ok, fist of all megamans dug (as spiffy knight so elequently put it) is a suport unit and is there to help him in times of need.
5. Protoman is only his brother coz he was created by doctor light.
6. That is doctor Wily. he stole doctor light robots as i stated in a previous explanation. also i do not recall any of astros enemies having 'grey spiky hair'.
7. hmmm....now, you have to remember the old astroboy did not do this. the new one does do this and foroncei do agre that this is imular to megaman. you must remember however that megamans is actualy an X buster and is like a gun that fits onto his hand. not his actual arm.
8. um....this hapens in heaps of shows and movies and books. i see no relevent simularity.

as to yxuz's picstures:

the first one is megaman. created to be a cleaner and ten modified to save the world! :wahah:

the second is a suport unit, his name is rush.

then there is doctor light. he created all these robots to do normal household things like cutman was a gardener or something.

That is Roll. created to be a asistant for doctor light and i think she helps megaman from time to time.

That is protoman (i think he is by far the coolest) he is a good guy, megamans brother. he pops in to help mm sometimes. just b4 he pops onto the set to save the day or something he whistles this cool little tune. its the start of this song: MM3Proto on this site: The site

That is Bass/Forte (the second coolest) this is megamans Rival and cares for nothing but being the strongest. he wants
megaman dead and will never stop hunting him. so i gues this is sorta simular to the 80's atlas.

That is doctor Wily, he stole all of lights robots except rockman because back then rockman was a complete looser with no abilites or weapons at all.

check out my cool bass/forte sig:

This MegaMan thing seems really popular. I never saw the appeal of it to be honest. Dunno why. I guess since I have been around longer than he has and therefore have sen most of the different versions I just see them as more generic platform scroller games.

There is like catroons and DVDs and stuff for it now. Never interested me tho. The merchandise cant impress if the original product aint all that.

Anyone care to 'educate' and old man as to what makes MegaMan as popular as he is? What is it that makes him 'better' or more popular than other 'products' of its type?
three and a half years.. for what?

It's because Megaman games were simply incredible, on both Nintendo and Super Nintendo. I played A LOT "Megaman X" on SNES when I was young. I think it was probably the better game ever made on SNES. I'm not the only one to think that...

About Astroboy, I could say that the new Atlas (the new serie) is REALLY similar to robots in Megaman...

Remember the episode in which 3 boys were throwing oranges to robots and then Atlas came... Watch carefully the position of Atlas JUST BEFORE he say "Blast away! But I go first!". There's an evident resemblance with the way with Megaman and other robots in that game were drawn.

Image
Megaman was commonly drawn like that: in the same position.
I think that it's obvious for anyone who know well the Megaman games...

I don't really like the new Atlas. Many people say that he's much more cool than the Altas of the '80 serie. But I think this one was pretty cool to and especially really original (you know, with his flying horse and his sword)... Yeah, the new Atlas could be cool, but certainly not original! And I wonder why he's supposed to be cool since he's a "vilain"...

I personaly have no experience with megaman games (i am going to get one soon) so i do not realy know about the pose. i will have to check it out later but with that cool pic u provided and my memory i do agre at the moment that their poses do look the same.

with the new atlas. He is not realy the villan. Tokugawa (anyone know how to spell that properly?) mistreated him so Atlas rebelled. ;) did i get that right?
