I have read all of the 23 manga, but do not remember anything about this, except that it was used as the plot fo 2003 #45-50. This one Blue Knight story was only a portion of the plot, but there are other manga stories that also contribute. Tenma rebuiding, then keeping Atom, etc. But none of that manga humor made it to the anime in 2003.
