The Tao of Tezuka, what I learned for life I learned from bots and cubs.

by Dan **** (USN active)

The things you could learn from watching Osamu Tezuka cartoons. If there's one thing about Tezuka, he was hip on morality and virtue. It doesn't matter what state of society you professed or belonged to because what Tezuka displayed in his comics could fit everything and everyone.

They never left....not after the end of the 60's, not when I left high school and not while I've been in the U.S. Navy, the stories Tezuka drew and the universal human values they profess have stayed with me...

1. In the case of bullies?

Astro and Kimba have a very low tollerence for bullies be they bullies on them or on others. Simple remedy....kick their butt. Don't talk to them, don't agree with them, don't bow to them....kick their butt and if you need help to kick their butt, don't be afraid to enlist a gang.

Don't become a bully yourself. You find very quickly there's no reward in being a school jerk. There's heaps though for being the school hero.

Stand up to the bully and 90 percent of the time....they'll back down.

Sometimes the bully needs a friend. Beat his butt or not, seek to make him your friend not your enemy.

2. Evil

The truely evil can not be reformed, therefore kick their butt. Don't talk to them, don't negotiate with them, don't offer them anything, kick their butt.

There's evil and then there's the good intention being reached by evil means, such as stealing mom's money a cent at a time to get high scores on video games ( did that a lot as a kid) good intentions through evil means is just as bad as being pure evil for the numbers of injured people you leave on the sidelines as you pass by. Better to get to good by good means.

3. Freinds

Be willing to stick up for your friends no matter what the cost.

No matter what their troubles, never abandon your friends.

If your friend gets into trouble because of you, own up to your misdeeds.

A good turn done for a friend has more than a thank you for a reward.

4. Work

If you can paint a fence with 7 people, it's better than being alone.

Never gripe about work.

Hard work brings good rewards.

5. family

Family is everything.

Little sisters can be a pain but also a blessing.

mind your parents.

stick up for your brothers.

nothing hurts harder than loss when years have been lost. Don't argue with family no matter how much they make you angry.

6. Environmentalism

Radical environmentalism is insane, no environmentalism is stupid.

Plants make oxygen....plant more plants.

7. War

There will always be war so always be prepaired to fight and win it.

Jungle kingdoms are not maintained by whimps.

8. Finances

Believe it or not Kimba the White Lion had lessons in being thrifty. It's better to save for bad times even if you can't see any bad times in the future and every cent you save is a cent well guarded.

9. Lying

Those who must lie are cowards who can't stand their own person.

The truth, spoken quickly and forcefully, will always make a bad situation better.

10. being a hero, showing courage.

Being a hero in the eyes of one person, benefits another 10.

Heroism is not the absence of cowardice or fear but the mastery of them through knowledge and faith.

There is no "I can't" only "I will"

I really should write a book.

That reminds me of Yoda when he said: "Don't try. Do it, or don't do it. There is no try."
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.
