setting the scene: Astro's friend Kenichi has been injured when Astro is battling a run a way robot inside an amusement park. It is a plot by Atlas to get people to hate Astro because of the overt destruction. The page before this an angry mob has cornered Astro and threatens to rip him apart while Atlas watches overhead hoping Astro will run away and seek his friendship.

Livian: DAICHI!
Atlas: Oh crap....
Livian: *storms up to him, poking him on the chest with her finger* How could you?! I've been your best friend since we were five and I'm human! Does that mean you consider me an enemy?! Huh?! *eyes water up and she starts to cry*
Atlas: Gah! No, Livian, please don't cry!
Me: Um...I think I'll leave these two alone.

In the episodes published during the 80s, Atlas was Astro's Nemesis. In the episodes of the 2000s, he is another boy who died and was replaced by a robot. In both, Astro and Atlas are some kind of ennemy brothers.
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.
