You think that's bad?
Wait till you saw the pirated 80's DVDs. The subtitles of them are as evil as hell!
I almost understood the spoken japanese better than the subs.

Really! Why do these people like to tweak the subtitles in an evil way and can't really understand what good will it do to them.[/b]

That's why they are called pirates ! :P
More seriously, that's probably because they don't speak English very well. The subs in this case are probably made by Chinese or Japanese, not by native English speaking people.
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

& beside that, they probably do not care about the audience's preference for acceptable vs. vulgar speech. Moreover, they might not even consider those terms as vulgar (which, BTW, literally means 'common', but has come to mean unacceptable speech).

There was a time when Rhett said, "Frankly, Scsarlet, my dear, I don't give a da**--CENSORED--", & everybody freaked out. Then John Wayne said some similar things on screen, & met similar reactions. But 'da**--CENSORED--' is found more than a few times in the Bible, as is pi**--CENSORED--, meaning uri**--CENSORED-- or uri**ation--CENSORED--, depending upon context. It seems the people @ that time were rather hung-up about se*ual--CENSORED-- things, but had no problems with 'pi**--CENSORED--'. They were so hung-up, that they could not even say se*ual--CENSORED-- int********--CENSORED-- & instead said "uncover the nakedness of". Now, when later generations read that, they thought it condemned mere exposure of the body, & perhaps the translators felt that by so doing (condemning exposure itself), they could better avoid people engaging in se*ual--CENSORED-- int********--CENSORED--ATTENTION: THIS POSTING HAS BEEN TERMINATATED BECAUSE ITS CONTENT HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE NAUGHTY. :D I can't help, but somehow your post reminds me on that letter:

"Dear Sir,
I object strongly to the obvious se*ual turn this topic has now taken. Why can't we hear more about the human body? There is nothing embarrassing or nasty about the human body except for the intestines and bits of the bottom.

Yours etc., Ken Voyeur (Ms)"
