I have an image in my head of Astro dancing to "I was made for loving you)
Better yet, can you imagine Astro being an Alice Cooper fan? :wahah:

That was Ozzy Osborn. It's rumored that Alice Cooper bit the head off of a chicken but he didn't really.

No it doesn't That's just what overgood Christians say to claim Kiss is evil. Pardon the language but, Gene Simmons says they called it Kiss because they couldn't call it "****."

This reminds me on a book called 'Backward Masking' which discusses the secret messages certain bands use to put in their songs. Playing these songs backwards would reveal those messages. Kinda scary if you imagine those messages could affect your subconscious, but I personally think the brain can't receive backward talk while hearing a song in normal forward playing mode.

The Beatles also were one of the first bands which have recorded some backward stuff in their songs, like in 'Revolution Nr. 9' for instance.

At that time (1967 I think) rumors were spreading around that Paul McCartney died in a traffic accident.
Those rumors also were feeded by the Abbey Road's album-cover on which you can see McCartney walking in raw with his other band-members over a pedestrian crossing barefooted. This has provided the connection to an italian tradition where deceased people get buried without their shoes on.
The white VW car showing on the left side behind the four has also given some reason for the speculations about Paul's death. The car's number plate says 28IF, which could have meant that Paul could've turned 28, IF he wouldn't have been involved in a car-accident. Scary story  .

Anyway, rock music has always been the target of some so-called christians to put occult rituals in connection with, but searching after them with an oversized magnifying glass will reveal dust everywhere ;) .

I remember when Rush Limbaugh did his own 'expose' on Backward Masking. He 'claimed' (it was all a joke, but many took it seriously  ) that Slim Whitman's One White Dove (ok, so the title was Latin or some other language, but I only remember the English translation) had messages from Satan. He played the message, which sounded like ED209's voice rambling on for several paragraphs about Slim's deal with Satan or some other equally absurd BS. People called in and defended Slim, and they were not happy. Most took the thing seriously, and it was really funny.

I can confirm two incidences of back Masking.

Queen - Another One Bites The Dust
- Message is "We smoke Marijuana".

Learned from ruining many audio tapes at a teenager just for fun. If you make a tape recording of a CD (or when I was a teen, Vinyl) and then you take the tape apart and string the actual tape around the spools the other way around.. yep.. the tape plays backwards. Tapes used to cost about 50c in those days, and could fit one album per side.. so to us listening to albums backwards for 25c each was an awful lot of fun. This is how I discovered this one. It was ONLY this one, too. I listened to almost every album I had, every album my FRIENDS had.. my FAMILY.. and this was the ONLY unmistakeable mask we found.

THe REASON we were doing this originally is because I used to have the single vinyl of "they're Comming to Take Me Away, ha ha" and the B side was a recording of the song backwards! It was hilarious to us at the time. even the LABEL of the b side was PRINTED backwards.. as if the record was transparent and that is what the back of the label on the A side would look like. which brings me to my second confirmed Mask.

Napolean XIV - "They're Coming To Take Me Away"
- there are a few in here actually. the CLEAREST one is right at the end of the B side (which, therefore is the very start of the song when heard the right way round) the words "and that's the end" are heard. Meh.. nothing too controvercial or anything. I can't help but think the whole song was released originally as a JOKE about Back Masking. We had rascals in the music industry back then.. :)

Anyone on a windows PC can listen to anything backwards now MUCH easier than my old Cassette Tape trick. Just open a song in Recorder, and you can set it to play backwards in one of the menu options!

If anyone else has CONFIRMED Masks, please do tell.
three and a half years.. for what?

I do not agree with the idea that r & r groups have used this, as some Xtian groups insist. First, let us consider that even if when played backward, we hear "turn me on dead man" or some seemingly coherant phrase, unless we check with other recordings, we have not used the scientific method, & therefore are likely to be erred. The same thing was claimed with the so-called Bible Code. The guy arranged the Torah in tabular (rows and collumns) form in the Hebrew. He then took every 100th or 1000th letter & looked for any words. In all that, he found a few occurances of words, & on those grids, he looked up, down, diagonally, etc, to see if he could find any others. Believing that he had, he submitted his findings & expected to be hailed as a hero. However, a guy challenged him, & using a Hebrew translation of "Mobey Dick" & the same techniques, found similar results therein. The lesson is this: do not claim that your drug is effective in X, unless you use a control group, & placebos, to show that of the two, only your grup showed statistally significant number of people getting results.
