I decided to post a new thread about the remaining half of the 60's series that wasn't dubbed,(almost 100 eps.)since I've been watching them on dvd.
That's right, we may complain about the butchering of 80's Japanese episodes 1 and 2 and a few cuts here and there of other eps. of that series, but the 60's censors skipped nearly 100 eps.

I won't summerise the eps. here, but talk about why they censored them.
Here's one in perticular: The Yellow Horse.
It's about Astro going undercover to bust drug smuggling gangsters. Ok one thing the censors probably didn't like was that Astro got naked, well sort of. Inspector Tawashi says that Astro's skin isn't human enough to go undercover as a human child, so he hands him some artificial skin made out of nylon, looks like a flesh colored body-stocking. Astro puts it on and Tawashi puts a wig on his head. Now he looks like a naked human boy. Astro checks himself out and coments on how well the nylon looks like real skin, then he pulls and stretches it.

The main reason it was banned was because later after fully clothed of course, Astro goes undercover to a drug den and gets himself injected, twice mind you, with a drug known as Yellow Horse. Hmm, looks like heroene to me. It really doesn't have an affect on him, but he acts crazy just the same. Ok in the 60's in my country there was a growing drug culture, and the last thing the censors wanted was kids seeing there idol doing heroene.

I'm pretty sure this was banned in the states, because I didn't see it listed here:

I wish I could post some images of the "naked" scene and the injection scenes. The story was from the manga, so you can see it there if you can't watch it. I forgot which volume though, sorry.
