B) For those who are looking forward for the french new series to be released, check out this site:

French new series out on march 22nd, containing the first 24 episodes.

They seem to be limited to 999 copies, so it'll be better to set the pre-order in time. ;)

999 copies? where does it say that?

Even if that is so, they will likely release subsequent pressings if the initial run sells out rapidly. I say this because the show bombed on TV, & they are not likely to risk pressing any more discs than they think they can sell. Hence, the initial pressing might be a very limited quantity. However, if this turns out to be the same thing as was on tv, I do not think it will be too popular. :P

5 discs? Even the P version used 7. This would mean 10 times 23 or 24 minutes which is 4 hours per disc. The most I can recall was Moldiver with about 3 hours per disc. Something will be comprimised.

50 episodes on 5 discs? I have the first two DVDs from Columbia/Tristar (Sony?) and there are 4 episodes per disc (3.8GB total). Now they're adding two more soundtracks and cramming on more than double the episodes? Even if they use dual-layer discs the quality is going to have to be reduced.

I'm thinking they will probably be two sided discs with 5 episodes per side, which would not sacrafice quallity at all. I just hope it's unedited and they change the packaging before they release it in March. I'm sick of the pissed off Astro look. <_< Seems as if there still targeting punk kids, but punks don't like Astro, he's too nice for them.

I think the picture on the cover is indicative of the 'punk' factor:

But, I just might be wrong. ;)

Wouldn't rather it be an Astrosignal ?

Hey all,

I found another link to the new dvd:
http://www.dvdtoons.com/news/714

It appears it is going to be a one sided picture disc, which will probably be duel layered. Let's hope the quallity is not lost. The picture discs do offer some better pics. of Astro than on the cover.

If I ever see any more info on the dvd I'll post it.

As promised, here's more info in the dvd:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=2744

Still don't see the magic word "Unedited", but it does say that the episodes that were never aired were "produced for the USA". Hmm, that leads me to believe that they may have been edited just like what was aired. Evan if they're not edited, they may have changed the dialoge like they did the 2 part Atlas episodes, thus ruining the story, and they may have the American soundtrack. <_<
Why can't they just leave it the way it was. The Japanese don't change Disney when they air it, do they?

Ohh well, at least it's not as bad as what Sandy Frank did to Gatchaman, unforgivable, poor Junpei, now he's 7zark7? :o  <_< He don't evan talk anymore.
On a more positive note, look at the idividual cases for each disk inside the box, nice art work at least. ;)

Now here's some art work I'd like to see for our dvd:
http://au.playstation.com/movies/astroboy.jhtml

Now that's more like it. A Smiling Astro flashing the peace sign  Love it. Peace to you too Astro.

Here's a forum about it with a big picture of the box:

That's all for today folks.

I find it hard to believe that it is available two months ahead of its scheduled release. In fact, B&N does list its availabilty as preorder, and that it should ship 3/29.

The best price I have found is from digital eyes, $36.95. I have bought many DVDs from this source, and reccommend it highly. Digital Eyes: Astro Boy
