I'm confused. What the world is this? I naturally thought this was the new series but the description lead you to believe it's the 60s series. The pictures are from the new series and the box I thought was for the new series.
29 episodes not shown in the US? That would fit perfectly into the last series. RIght?
Deceptive advertising?
I'm confused

You know what?
I've found a lot of them for auction on ebay.
Look at this:

About 7 of them I think.

Yeah, they screwed up big time on the description. Looks like they pasted it straight from here or here, wich are both wrong anyway.
It's the 2003 series they're selling.

Is the dialog Japanese or English?
At the bottom of the page, it is written that it is dubbed in Japanese, and subbed in English.
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Here is the official product:
http://www.sonypictures.com/homevideo/astr...vigation-2.html
The audo is English, Portuguese and Spanish. There are no subtitles. DVDAsian has is seriously wrong.
A few obvious mistakes...
It doesn't star Billie Lou Watt. She did Astro's voice in the 60s series. Candi Milo does this version.
It's not directed by Osamu Tezuka, it's directed by Kazuya Konaka, Yunio Suzuki, Takuo Suzuki, Yukihiro Shino, Hiroshi Ishiodori, and various others depending on the episode. Tezuka was only the creator. He'd have a hard time directing it since he's been dead since 1989.
They say it's rated G. It hasn't been rated yet.
This version certainly wasn't on air from 1963-1966.
They're showing two different box designs which are different products. The black one at the top is the 5-disc English set. The colourful one further down with Tenma/Shadow on the top is the second box set of the 6-disc Korean version.
At least they got the running time correct.
The price is the giveaway as to what this product is.
US~$450 - Japanese version, 13 separate discs (region 2, NTSC, dubbed and subbed in Japanese, tons and tons of extras)
US~$200 - Korean version, 6 discs in two colourful boxes (region 3, NTSC, dubbed in Japanese and Korean, subbed in Japanese/Korean/English, a few good extras including figurines)
US~$100 - Australian version, 6 separate discs of half the series only (region 4, widescreen PAL, dubbed in English, subbed in English and Hindi  , minimal special features)
US~$45 - US version, 5 discs in 1 black box (region 1, fullscreen NTSC, dubbed in English/Portuguese/Spanish, no subtitles, no special features)
(these are all of the 50-episode 2003/2004 series, by the way)

Yeah, the Sony site is the only one with the right info. I've ordered the American/English version. It's disapointing that it's not wide-sreen.
I hope it's aleast unedited. I might look into the Korean Version if it is. I'm suprised the Korean version would have English subs. There's a pic. of the Korean box set 2 on the site Wildpegasus posted. :wahah: Pretty.

I just ordered the Korean Astro season 2 boxset. Finally an English sub. that's not a bootleg.
You can get it here:
