It's hard to find info on the net about who did what voice on the 80's series of Astroboy. Does anyone have a working knowledge?

(Sorry if this has been done before- I did a bit of a search, didn't find anything)

In the US dub, Astroboy's voice was done by Patricia Kugler Whitely. That's all I know so far.

Wait a minute. I thought that Candi Milo did Astro Boy's voice?

Jay Rath has kindly e-mailed me a list of who did what. I'm really blown away that this information has now become available. :wahah:

I did a whole lot of characters, but the recurring ones were Skunk and one of the classmates, Freddie. I'd have to check the scripts to see who else I was; Puko the Duck and Dr. Frankenstien come immediately to mind.

As for the others' recurring characters (at least those who come to mind right now):
Richard Ganoung, classmate Alvin, Astro's robot "dad"; he's appeared in some independent films here.
Bob Gonzalez, Daddy Walrus
Debby Holmes, no regular character
Del Lewis, was actually our director; he played Dr. Boynton in the pilot
David G. Miller, no regular character
Paul M. Nelson, Atlas
Brian Perry, Dr. Elefun
Kahlei A. Slick, no regular character
Patricia Kugler Whitely, Astro! Still a very good friend of mine
Becke Wilenski, Astro's sister; she and I wrote the new lyrics together
Greg Zerkle, no regular character; he went on to become a Broadway actor

It's funny to recall scenes like Astro's dad getting bullied by Alvin when you realise both characters were voiced by the same person!

Thanks a LOT for this guys! As for the voice of Astro (on the 80's series) didn't she do other character voices on that show? I'm sure she did.

I'm guessing she did. Hopefully we'll hear more from Jay Rath when he's dug up the original scripts.

I hope he knows how glad we are for any info he can find. Do whatever you can to tell him just how much we Australians like this show!

For years I've wanted to know about the voice cacst for this version, what they look like, where it was recorded, how they got the parts, do they realise they worked on maybe the greatest animated series ever? etc etc

It seems like they are under appreciated in the US for this work!

So far what I've read above is more than I've ever known which is great, but DrFrag you seem to be the man around here - how about organising some online interviews for us?

I'm sure we'd be more than happy to submit questions for these people.

Oh, and thanks again Jay if you're reading!
I'm warning you Astro!
