1980 japanese episodes list??

[Astro Forever]

I'd like to know in which order the episodes were supposed to be played. I know it was different in French/English so I wonder what it was in Japan.

One thing I like about the French sequence is that "Atlas Forever" is last. Astro becoming friend with his worst ennemy is a great way to end the story, and since 70% of the city is destroyed, it's hard to imagine Astro simply resuming his usual everyday life as if nothing had happened..

"Atlas Forever" is definately a good one to end on. The English broadcast ended on "The Greatest Robot in the World", which was a pretty cool double episode to end on. I also though it was good to put it at the end sence since Atlas didn't appear in it as one of the "Greatest Robots".
"Astro's First Love" makes a little more sence as a final episode if you get to see Tezuka's live message at the start. Still, I think the French/English endings were a better choice.
(BTW, the English episode order was decided by the Japanese studio)

Good points. I wonder how Pluto would have been able to reach Atlas in space though... Maybe Astro should have flown into space. Since Pluto needed air to fly, maybe he would have eventually crashed back to earth and that would have been the end of him... :wacko:

I think the French ending was the best of all 3:

Before knowing it didn't end the same way in other versions, I wouldn't even have thought about another way to end the series.

And speaking about order, believe it or not but my network showed The Fall of Archeron today and I've yet to see The Rise of Pluto... I missed the title at the beginning so I was really scratching my head until I realized what had probably happened... :wacko:

I have read somewhere on the internet a long while back that the arrangement on my deluxe collector's tin set by Madman is based upon the intended chronological order in Japan.
I'll dig it out of the cupboard sometime tomorrow and list them.

Yes, that's correct MightyAstro. It matches the order on the official Tezuka site.

I checked on my DVDs and yes it does match the list you made DrFrag.

It's kind of funny how all the stories featuring Skunk appear towards the beginning of that order's list. Skunk didn't seem to ever be killed off but for some unexplained reason he disappeared into thin air. It seems to me that the English dub's order was purposely designed to make it seem like Astro's recurring enemy was actually always present despite the small number of episodes involving him.

Incidentally you say the English order was determined by Tezuka's own people DrFrag. That's very interesting.
