Attention Washington D.C. area Astro fans. DO NOT JOIN THE DC ANIME CLUB!
I just met with them today and I found out that they have a stupid rule: They don't ever show anime that has been seen on American tv. The presedent said "What would be the point"? <_< Uhm, because it's good, duh. That means no Astro could ever be shown there, because all 3 versions have been shown in the U.S. As much as the the president and vice president praised my taste in Tezuka and other classic anime of his generation, they wouldn't show them.
It turns out that the DC anime club is an affiliate of the ADV anime company, which has a anime satelite network and releases New Type Magazine, so the club's main purpose is to promote new anime so they can sell it better in America. So evan though the website said to bring your own anime(which I did), they wouldn't evan show Black Jack, which hasn't been seen on American tv, to my knowledge.
I just don't like having a company chose the anime to show me. I thought it was going to be a group of friends getting together to share each others anime, which is what a club should be. But no, it was just promotional dvds that a ADV sent them. Lame! <_<
They were good, but I don't want to be limited to them.
Astro fans in the D.C. metro area unite!, to form our own anime club, to show Tezuka and related stuff. Who cares whether it's old, new or has been shown on tv. It's good and needs to be exposed more.
