Thankyou, you've turned my frown upside-down. :D

Did you play the doom level?

Yeah, it was insane! Cyber-Demon-a-rama! :D

I tried starting up some of my old maps but they crash the game. Back when I compiled them there wasn't any proper BSP compiling tools. (I can have another shot if you're interested in seeing them)

:wahah:  Well ok... But do it again and see if you can make it now that you know I left you plenty of Spheres. Just make it to the spheres! :D
I know no one can make it through there in one try.

I got through on the easiest difficulty. I killed all the monsters too. :wahah:

Here's my map:
http://users.tpg.com.au/drfrag/drfrag.zip
It's for Doom 1, so it starts at E1M1. It goes up to E1M7, but it looks like there are no monsters or exits from E1M5 onwards. It's set up for varying difficulties, co-op play and deathmatch. Sorry, no double-shotgun or bosses.
It's better than I remember though. :D

Have you read the novel or heard the audio version? I first saw the old film, then heard the radio (I think it was done by Alien Worlds), then read the book. When listening to the audio, I tried to put myself into the mindset of a 1938 guy. But there was just no way I could relate to those people's fear resulting from switching from some other broacast & suddenly hearing a presumed live news broacast telling of Martian space craft & death rays. ;) Anyway, the book was best, but the others were good.

Try to imagine it with today's media. You turn on your TV and see an emergency news interruption, hosted by your regular (and trusted) local news presenter in all seriousness.

Before The Blair Witch Project came out there was a TV special about it that presented itself as a real documentary. It included realistic interviews, and some very genuine looking file footage (including some excellent 70s clips with matching sound reproduction). People thought the movie was made from real footage.

I think you're right though, it's too hard to get in that 1938 mindset these days. :D
