Check out this site:
www.manga-distribution.fr

Obviously this release contains the first half of all 51 episodes, I assume that the second half will be released some months later.

However there seems to be no further specifications about video format or region codes.

I also found a preview of this release in a french forum. As far as what my poor french made me understand, Astro's reports (which used to appear at every french episode's end) are included too. B)

That was going to be my first question.

According to Babelfish, new titles have been encrusted at the beginning.

According to French too... I really don't know what it means! I like how they wrote "Box 1" on the boîte... Love the "mailing list" section too...

Thank you Strange Wings... I can't believe it! :wahah: But... I really have no idea if they'd deliver here... There is no information about international delivery!

And for the member here who wanted them (I forgot who it was), the trailers for the next episode have been included! ;) It also looks like there is a little bit of extras, at least they said they explained how they restored the image.

I love the phone ring too!

Oops... I read the text again and I'm not sure the trailers are included anymore... Sorry if I raised somebody's hopes. It's a little bit confusing. They are talking about the episodes numbers, but I don't remember them being part of the game, which made me think they were talking about the trailers... And they talked about the episode number of the episode that was just played...

I just realized the "encrusted titles" means they found new names for some episodes; I had a hard time understanding that one too. I still sometimes confuse some of them in French. Whenever I think of an episode now, I just think about its English name. Just more confusion to come! :D

The more I think about it, the more I have a feeling that the chances that the series will be available here have just increased with this news, and by a lot. Almost all of the cartoon series available here are available in France. Astro played 3 or 4 times here, which is a lot more than most other series currently available. The big part of the job is already done. It would only be logical to offer a NTSC/region 1 format here. So I think I'll wait before buying it. It would be a lot better to buy it here.

I read down the page... the trailers ARE included! :D

Strange Wings, do you find the mistakes when you play? ;)

I got the impression it meant they re-built the opening and closing sequences like Madman did. You know, get the blank footage and overlay the credits again.

I thought "encrusted" was a funny choice of wording since it usually refers to a peripheral buildup of waste and scum.

They wrote that the opening sequence is the one that was shown on TV. According to my dictionnary, the French word "incruster" doesn't translate exactly as "encrusted". It says:

incruster quelque chose dans quelque chose: to inlay something into something

So if something was put inside the episodes themselves, I'd say it has to be the title. They said it was to get closer to the original Japanese version.

I've seen "titles" used as in "series" on occasion, wrongly IMO. That's what confused me at first. That was a weird sentence to me, but then maybe it's a continental difference!

Yeah, the French opening credits were missing the scenes of Astro destroying a tank and flipping Frankenstein on his head.

I know, but as I said, it was specifically written on the forum that the opening credits would be exactly as it was on TV, which is why I think the "encrusted titles" means that they have renamed some episodes instead.

I just read other topics on their forum and they don't deliver here. Oh well, I'm still hopeful that we will get it eventually. B)
