What do you think would happen if the new Astro body Tenma made survived the destruction of Level 7 only to get into the hands of someone like Drake, Skunk or some far worse criminal? After all there's no brain in that body, which means you could have a very dangerous and formidable opponant for Astro to deal with.

That scenerio, or close to it was played out in the 60's anime. I don't remember the title or the number, but it was about the whole gang of criminals(think Legion of Doom) in Astro's world getting together to make their own Astro to destroy Astro. Astro fought his evil twin, but convinced him to be good and then together they fought the gangsters.
Go!, Astros.

That new bod of Astro's looks a lot like the current Atlas mixed with the way Astro looked in the first story of Manga vol. 22.

As fierce looking as the new body is, he's still got Astro's cute face. ;)

Astro looks fine just the way he is.
The ep was pretty cool,too.
Why did Tenma even have the idea of taking Astro's electronic brain out of his own body, and inserting it into the newly made body?
Even if that did happen, Astro wouldn't look the same anymore.
And I'd really hate it if Astro's body looked different... <_<

Thank you, you're too kind.

Yes Tenma was too cruel to Astro. He had an angel for a son and he wouldn't just love him the way he was. He's a child abusing jerk.

I agree with you also about Astro's body. I'm glad Astro didn't allow Tenma to change him into that. Atlas tried to change Astro to something like that in the 80's series, but Livian warned Astro about his plan.

There's a manga and 60's anime story called Astro Stollen, in which some mad scientists convince Dr. Ochanimizu and Astro to try out an Adult body for Astro. Astro tries it but doesn't like it, then the mad scientists steal his normal body and use it for evil. Astro has to fight his old cute self. :( Don't worry Astro gets his old body back in the end. ;)

Actually, the old body was destroyed. However, Ochanomizu had a spare in storage. So, he was installed into a new body of the old style. :D

But there is a problem with that, namely, if only Tenma could repair the Atom, how then could Ochanomizu build a duplicate? :P

Yes I know that, I just didn't want to spoil the whole story for those who don't know it. ;)
And who says Tenma is the only one who can repair Astro. It's only in the Astro Reborn story, which Tezuka hated by the way, that Tenma was called in to fix Astro. I've seen countless anime and manga stories where Ochanimizu repairs Astro, like one in the 60's where a cute girl plays a flute that, unknown to her, causes machines of all kinds to explode. She visits Astro's house and plays a song on her flute for Astro, Cobalt, and Uran. All 3 enjoy the song at first, then one by one, explode into a million pieces. It's Dr. Ochanimizu who fixes them in a moble repair van. Then he scoldes the girl.

Was it Atom vs. Atom? (episode 129)

In the 80s series, the Ministry of Science kept a copy of Astro's mechanical blueprint in a vault. I think it was only his electronic brain that couldn't be reproduced.

What kind of weapons do you think this new body had? I'd obviously think the armor factor was pumped up and the arm cannons were more powerful.
