Is this all from the Robot Vikings episode?

from

Starlight B)

No, this is from the 1st episode. Tobio nhas just been killed. The Japanese version shows him lying in the hospital bed, making his last request to his papa. From what I read in other threads, Jay Rath stated that the Japanese themselves only provided the Americans with a cut version of the show. Thus English viewers never saw Tobio's last request, Atlas as a kid, Atlas pushing the icebergs into the ship's path, etc.
Ooops, it hadn't occured to me that this might have been the meaning Starlight's question. Thanks, jeffbert.

So technically, yes, all those pics were from the Robot Vikings episode, but three of them were flashbacks, especially the one jeffbert quoted, which is basically identical to a scene in the first episode.

Kind of nitpicking, but I thought Atlas had to push the boat into the icebergs, not the other way around. It's very possible that I'm totally off, however.

I would think that the ship's Captain would surely know that the ship was off its course. However, he seemed taken by surprise by the icebergs. B)

What happened was the Japanese cut most of the censored scenes, but the entire original first two episodes were not cut but the Japanese. These were dubbed in their entirety - Jay was happy that his main character Skunk got a prominent role early on. But they were never screened and haven't showed up anywhere since.

Really? I often wondered about that scene where Toby lies in his bed with his father next to him, because I've seen pictures of it on the internet, but I have a copy of the Siren VHS version and it never showed that scene on the Siren VHS version.

What was his last request?

About the "Atlas as a kid" part: wasn't there shots of Atlas as a kid on the "Atlas returns" episode (or whatever it was called)? (Video 2, Madman DVD)

As for the Robot Vikings, episode question, I haven't seen that episode since I was about 6 so I was just wondering if all the pictures came from that episode because it looked cute, and I might buy a DVD of it.

Thanks for the photos, Astro_Forever! I had a great time looking through them all. You seem to know a lot about PowerDVD and photoshop and all that. Did you study Graphic Design or Multimedia at TAFE or university?

from

Starlight :-)

You are welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed them! :)

I don't know what TAFE is (I live in Canada) but anyway, no, I've never studied Graphic Design. PowerDVD is the standard software that came with the DVD player I bought for my computer a few months ago. It's not very intricate, at least not more than a standard VHS/DVD player. As for Photoshop, I know the basics, such as using layers, basic special effects, resizing, rotating, etc. I can follow a tutorial, but I'm far from being able to create miraculous transformations, unfortunately!
Hi Astro_Forever,

TAFE stands for Technical And Further Education, and it is a college that is in different places in Australia. The courses there are not as advanced as university degrees. You can study courses at certificate level or diploma level at TAFE, and it is where people go to learn trades such as hairdressing, computer studies, visual art, plumbing, environmental studies, carpentry etc...

You can study about digital media at TAFE because that is what my brother is studying at the moment. Some people go to TAFE after finishing high school and then they can get into a university course after that, or you can go straight to university after finishing high school if you get good marks.

Are you studying at the moment or working?

Not that this is the greatest frame ever, but I like Uran's expression! :)

What episode are these from? I like the way Uran has a similar outfit to Astro: the black pants and silver belt. :-)

He asked his father to create a robot, name him Tobio, make him really cool and love him in place of himself. It's on the Madman extras DVD, in Japanese with subtitles. I was so excited when I finally got to see those two complete episodes!!!

Yes, it was in "Atlas Lives Again". I put screenshots of that episode earlier in this thread! ;) I think there was another episode in which there were flashbacks of Atlas as a kid, but I'm not sure. I think it might have been in "The Crystal of the Desert".

They are from "The Greatest Robot in the World", part 1. It's on the same DVD than "The Robot Vikings" in the Madman release (http://www.madman.com.au/actions/catalogue...603&method=view). The Robot Vikings is one of the funniest episode, and both "Greatest Robot" episodes are probably the best part of the series IMO, along with "Atlas Forever". If I had bought only some DVDs and not the entire series, I definitely would have bought this one!

Uran also disguised herself as Astro in another episode, "The Time Machine", and I did put screenshots of that episode and of that particular scene in this thread too. :P

I put the name of the episode before every bunch of screenshots I posted in this thread. The problem is that I can't post more than 10 pics in a single post, so if I took 50 screenshots, I'll write the name only once, at the beginning of the first post, and will just continue with the screenshots in the next 4 posts. So as long as you don't see another name, all the screenshots you are looking at come from the episode whose name was last written.

Okay, I see what you mean, we have our kind of TAFE too, just with a different name. :) Well at least where I live; I guess English Canada must have their own, too.
