In choosing whether tou use 'me' or 'I,' you must decide whether you are performing action, or recieving action. If you are performing action, use 'I'; however if you are receiving, then use 'me.'
Examine these sentences:
"Please give me a 2 scoop ice cream cone."
"I want a 2 scoop ice cream cone."
In the 1st, you are asking someone to give you something, that is you are to receive a thing. You are being passive in this case. In #2, you are stating that you want a thing. This is action, you are doing something; thus, 'I' is correct.
