OH thats right u see I just got my new pc today thats the one program I forgot to install thanks.

That's the problem when installing a new PC: there are tons of softwares to reinstall and there is always one we forget

I reinstall them as I need them, which means that for a while, whenever I try something new, it never works!

That's exactly how I do, but sometimes I end up with recursive installations, because I will need a software, that in turn needs another software, and so on. Typically, I need a software that needs both an uncompression tool and a download, so I go for installing the uncompression tool, that itself needs a download, and for that I need a browser ( I won't use Internet Explorer because of security reasons, with the only exception to download a decent browser :P ).

I avoid much confusion by creating a folder within my dowloads folder called "Installed Software." Once I install something, I move its folder into the installed folder. But sometimes I forget to do so. :D

Too much trouble for me!

I wonder how I'm going to install a browser in my next computer though, since it won't be include in Vista... Will I have to use my old floppy disks to install Netscape 2? :P

If you use Windows, you can use Internet Explorer, which comes with it. However, I do not advise using the hackers' favorite browser. I myself prefer Opera, & find that it works fine on most pages.

Regarding IE, it may not be such a flawed product as one might think. True, there have been many vulnerabilities found in it, by both hackers & others. But, because it is used by over 90% of Windows users, why should the hackers bother with finding vulnerabilities in browsers used by only a few people?

I was speaking of Windows Vista, that will come out in 2006. Because of the lawsuits and the anti-monopoly laws, Microsoft won't include IE in it.

You are probably right. But even without considering its vulnerabilities, I still like Firefox better! :D

I have an external USB hard drive with a folder called Rebuild. In it is drivers, applications, codecs, CD images, and Windows patches. Plus a re-installation checklist. I'm very organised. :D

As for Vista, I suspect MS will lose a big browser market share when people have to actually choose and install a browser, rather than living with what Windows comes with.

It isn't a proof. Several years ago, the main web server (not web browser) was IIS (closed source from Microsoft). Then it was supplanted by Apache (open source). Despite of that, vulnerabilities were still found in majority in IIS, while much less were found in Apache.

I use an external DVD for region 2, but after I try (& hopefully like) DVDIdle Pro, I will enjoy region free viewing on all of my 3 DVD drives. It has a 30 full-featured free trial period. I looked for review on it, but could only find very brief ones.
