In China, he is considered to be ASTROBOY, certainly, this is wrong. <_<
Actually, he is Astro Boy. As I said in this and other threads about Jetter Mars, he was suposed to be the first all color Astro remake(1977), but since Tezuka's company Mushi Productions was bankrupt and Tezuka was producing the show at Toei Productions, he had trouble securing the copyrights in time for the shows release, so he had to change the design and the name of Mighty Atom to Jetter Mars, as well as some of the suppoting characters, but the basic Astro story line is still there. I consider this show to be the 1970's chapter of the Astro saga and look foward to it's release on dvd.
The reasons Tezuka abandon this show was the people at Toei were trying to micro-manage him, thus hampering his creative genius so he got bored with it, and only 1 season got produced, about 24 episodes I think. By 1980 Tezuka had a new company, Tezuka Productions, so he was now ready to do a new Astro the way he wanted to. Now in the year 2005, some people around the world want to see the Jetter Mars show again. to many this was the only version of Astro Boy they saw and in some countries, his name is translated to Astro. So please everyone, don't reject this show. It's made by Tezuka and it's another take on Astro(Mighty Atom).
