Yay! I found another Hyotantsugi! :wahah:



It could also fit in the mistakes thread, because it's not properly aligned with the man's hand! It's in The Robots Nobody Wanted.

In the same episode, at the end, as two busses full of remodeled robot pass, I also found this (twice, once in each bus):


(Sorry for the bad quality, I couldn't stop the image anywhere but between two frames.)

It looks a little bit like a Hyotantsugi. More like a Hyotantsugi skeleton, actually. I don't know if it qualifies as one, but if it's not one, then I don't know what that thing is supposed to be. It looks like it's floating. :wacko:

How many do we have so far in the 80s series? :huh:

• One at the top of the totem in Lilly on Peligro Island;
• Astro kicks one in Lilly on Peligro Island;
• The one(s?) above in The Robots Nobody Wanted;
• Half of one among the toys in Uran's Quest;
• The moon rock in Outer Spaceport R45;
• Three jumping on the movie screen in The Hijacked Airship;
• Two dancing with Uran in Uran Falls in Love.

It just occured to me that they are all in the last 15 episodes of the series in the Japanese order (unless we missed any, which is possible). The 3 appearances of Tezuka happened in the second part of the series. Did they just start having fun with these as they progressed throughout the series?

In the closing credits of Uran's Quest (available on the Manga Entertainment version), there is a better view of this Hyotantsugi:



As I said on some other thread, the screen captures I get from Manga Entertainment's version are not as bright as those I take from Madman's, but to any eventual buyer, don't be scared, both look as good on my TV! I don't know why the captures are so different. :wacko:



Daddy Walrus' coffee cup also reminds me a lot of a Hyotantsugi:

Who are the two characters in the last row? They were in the Character Gallery. Are they old versions of Astro's mom and dad? Because later, the 1980 ones are shown in the gallery. So if they are Astro's parents, I wonder why they are there. Maybe they changed their design later. :huh:
